St. Louis River Front and Chain of Rocks Trails - safe?
Is it just me or are these trails somewhat sketchy places to ride? Today I rode from Alton's riverfront, down to the Arch on the aforementioned trails. There were a few places on the Riverfront Trail that seemed kind of secluded and not in the best areas. I've heard the parking lots at the Chain of Rocks Bridge aren't a good place to leave a car. I didn't see many other riders. I was wondering if people avoided these areas for a reason.
On the way back I crossed the McKinley Bridge and rode up Hwy 3 back to the trails on the Illinois side of the river. I felt safer dodging traffic than riding thru the industrial areas on the Missouri side.
Am I imagining things, or was my intuition trying to tell me something?

I've ridden the trail a few times and never felt unsafe. I always park downtown and ride to the bridge and back. The trail passes through some industrial areas but I don't think its sketchy or unsafe.
