The weather man said get out and ride!

Not sure what the weather is like in your neck of the woods these days but here in the south central Canada, it is warm (low to mid 70s) so taking advantage of this late, late summer. I rode Friday at lunch for 20kms, quick ride with my wife yesterday and then pulled out the newer road bike and donned the lycra to do a longer ride. Can't believe I was riding in short sleeve kit and shorts and was sweating on Nov. 8th! Thankful.
Sept. and Oct. were cool here so I avoided doing longer rides and spent more time on short rides in sheltered neighborhoods and riding on Zwift but was clothes lined after my longer ride this morning having no energy and feeling really week all afternoon.
Might have something to do with raking leaves for several hours yesterday before the short bike ride.

Anyone else get out to enjoy this unusual warm weather in the northern half of the continent?

As a weather weenie, I don’t ride when temps are below the mid 40s F. In past years that’s meant virtually no miles after Nov. 1. Like you, here in Vermont we’re in the middle of a very unusual stretch of 70 degree days. So far the routine has been do some fall buttoning up chores in the morning, then, when it warms up, get out and ride. The only downside is the days are short.

Temps in the 70s and dry here in the Baltimore/Washington area - much more bike mileage in November so far, but also much more lawn mowing! I may be mowing the lawn in December for the first time.

An obvious short term blessing - the NOAA side says the La Nina pattern gives us a 33% chance of above average temperatures through March, with normal precipitation.

Temperature in the mid 70'sF with Eta providing some gusts of 40mph+ and liquid spritzing down from above I got out at 1:24AM for a wet-n-windy 23.23 miles on my 2002, $100.00, 7spd Target Magna hybrid. Music playing, bunny rabbits darting along side and across the road within a few feet of my front wheel, it was simply fabulous. Rain should be stopping soon so might just get out again.

It went from high 80°F's here to high 30°F's here (Ncal) rather abruptly.

Same thing often happens in March or April, you you from 40 degree temps to 90's in the space of a couple of days.

Here in Minnesota the past weekend was wonderful with temps in the 70's (F). I got out and had some beautiful rides Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Monday the rain and snow started. Yesterday I put the studded wheelset on the fat bike and the last two days have been riding in ice and snow near freezing. I'll take the warm weather any day but the cold weather works too.

We had the same stretch of beautiful weather here in NYC and I got a bunch of miles in. The rain came yesterday and the temps will drop back to normal over the next day or two.
