Motorola Merckx

I came across a Motorola Merckx, not an actual team bike, but a team livery given to a team members father. It's rough. TSX 54 cm

Any idea how to value?

A in order to give a valuation a few pictures of the entire bike would be helpful.
Best, Ben

I passed on the bike. It was Frankie Andreu's father's bike. I has been sold. It was pretty rusty, a long time in a MI basement, I think.

I would have been sorely tempted to buy this assuming the price was not too crazy. What did it go for if you don't mind saying.

sold-

unless you happen to catch it when its posted you wouldn't stand a chance for $400, asking price.I think it was more than a fair price.

Yes, Frankie wasn’t trying to rip anyone off, it was a very fair price as is. It is my size and I passed for $300.

Neat bike with an awesome back story. I hope the new owner restores and rides properly.

Yes, it was a pretty cool bike. But even at $300 and the effort required I didn’t think it was worth my time. Frankie said a local guy in Detroit bought it. No one he knew.

I know what years in a Michigan basement can do to a steel bicycle frame.

Or Minnesota basements for that matter.

I have to run duel dehumidifiers until December to keep the humidity # down.

There are still a few nice steel bikes down there that need TLC.

FWIW I would have passed on this one, even if it fit.

No energy to take on that type of project anymore.

I just saw a 1993 tutti frutti with 600 tri-color go for $835 at an auction. Significantly scratched, sunburnt, and rusted. $835.

My home has a Michigan basement (in decent shape), summers are crazy humid there.
