I bought it for 150, but it needed new wheels/cassette/chain. Turns out I don't really need new cables or anything and was able to adjust everything to working order myself.

Just needs some bar wrapping, fenders, and a rack and it's good to go. Those things I'll piece together from friends/salvage/cl/swapmeets, though. Budget may come down to ~350. I have locking skewers and will be bolting all removable parts to the frame by some means. Gonna make this thing as un-appealing to try and steal as I can. Hopefully they'll look at it and deem it 'not worth the effort' and move on to an easier target. /shrug

I'm hoping to do the same as soon as I get my new bike.

My buddy just got a new bike and had a 300 mile week, my biggest week so far has been 225. Time to show him who's boss!

Changed out the pedals on the MONOC and it's now down to 15.8 lbs with the Zipp 303 wheelset. The new pedals are about 1/4 lb lighter than the old ones and have a nice tension release indicator on them to allow consistent settings. Other than the full carbon fork, carbon seat and chain stays, carbon brake levers and carbon bottle cages, everything else structural on the bike is metal. To put it in perspective, my Bianchi Pista Concept with a rear Zipp disc and front Zipp 404 is only 0.2 lbs lighter, and it lacks bottle cages and a computer without which the MONOC would be lighter. When I began road racing in the 1970s, my race bike was steel and it weighed 22 lbs with its tubular racing wheels.

IMO 22 or 21 lbs is a sweet spot for steel road bikes. Plenty light, solid, without a fear of premature breakage or wear on components.

I still have my steel road racing bike from the early 1980s and in it's current form as shown with clincher wheels it weighs exactly 21 lbs. Note that I've raised the stem a bunch in deference to my aging stiff back. I raced it for over two decades before being forced to buy my aluminum / carbon sti brifter wonderbike to stay competitive.
