Oh, c'mon now. I love my wife - that's not what I hear at all!

It seemed like we continuously acquired riders on that ride. It was fun. I think we ended up with more than 40.

Mmm hmmm.....

Yeah, that's nice.

Okay....

Seriously, I like when I start my rides out into the wind and can have it at my back on the way home. For the direction I typically ride and the predominant wind, it's usually the other way around for me, and the ride home can be a real slog sometimes.

28 mile loop today with 1 torturemate.
Started to feel a bit like my old self and working a bit harder.
But I held off till the feeling passed.............
Speed falloff due to too few miles, too many useless pounds, and more age than I have ever had before.........

Now I just put some green peanuts on to boil.

Thanks for the chuckles, boys. Ya'll are a riot.

14.27 miles today in a flat out race between the nasty thunderstorms rolling up the coast. Again, left the house and ran smack dab into a headwind. This time I lucked out with the side streets providing a windbreak, and as I had precious little time, I put petal to the metal. Made it to the custom designed jewelry store (my destination), transacted some business (which involved the addition of a pretty box being handed across the counter in my direction), and was able to put my card back in my pocket without it (card or pocket) bursting into flames. Then back on the bike with a tailwind that allowed me to push along at 23mph while dodging big puddles in the road, out distancing the fast approaching thunderstorm by only minutes.

Now on the front porch on a lounge chair, wrapped in a blanket, two collies asleep at my feet, and one hubby fast asleep in the other lounge chair as the rain pours down in gray sheets around us.

Nice fast ride, lovely acquisition. Made my morning.

Good for you Mom. Wish I had a porch to sit on and watch the rain.

20 miles on the Tarmac SL3. I have some errands to do but this is one of the last nice days so I ride in the AM instead (don't want to tackle the DMV in the afternoon). Could have used sleeve covers, it was a little chilly to start. But sunny.

72 miles with 27 miles solo and 45 miles of group riding. There's 2 traffic lights during the group ride and we hit both on the green so it was almost 45 NON-STOP pedaling miles and a 20.9mph average.

27 miles Tuesday evening after the temperature dropped below the high 90s. Intended to ride only a few miles while adjusting these dadgum balky cantilever brakes. Stretched it out a bit more since it cooled off pretty nicely after dark.

I've been riding with Amanda Coker, on several occasions, since May 14th when she started her attempt at the woman's HAMR world record. Well, today was her day and I was honored to have ridden with her and her other rider/supporters as she became the new world record holder. I don't know how many more miles she will ride to increase the record distance but she has until May 14, 2017, to go. I hope to be able to do more rides with her between now and then.

First photo is Amanda crossing the finish line. Second photo is of the group that rode with her this morning. I'm the one on the white bike with the orange jersey and the image of Florida on the sleeve. Her very proud parents are up front with her in the second photo.

WOW! Over 36k miles since May. Sheesh. I would be proud to have ridden a few miles with her too (me with my paltry 20mi/day). Of course, she is a bit younger than my (almost) 71 years. What an accomplishment.

20.8 miles on the Roubaix in strong winds (15-21, gusts of 30+). I put new high end (Continental GP 4000) tires on this bike, first ride with them today. I can't believe the tremendous difference they make. Smooth, fast - at least 2mph for the same amount of effort as before. Now it rides like a Roubaix should. I'm lovin' it.

27 mile round trip today riding to and from work. Only problem with hot sunny not-so-humid weather last couple of days has been elevated ozone levels.

40 mile ride this morning with my buddy Steve. He really worked hard yesterday to stay in the group riding with Amanda. Today we took it easy to give him some rest.

Yep! She's quite a girl. After the TV reporters were done with her and the little party we had for her was over, she got on her bike and finished the day with 205 miles. She was out there again today at 7:00 am to start off on another 230 mile day which she plans on continuing until May 14th or something happens where she can't continue.

The wind yesterday was completely different than today. Cold, strong, north-westerly wind on an overcast day made the ride not so enjoyable, so only 15.5 miles on the Tarmac SL. 59° high for today. Supposed to warm up a little tomorrow and be back into the 80s by Sunday.

Another evening when I set out for a short test ride to check the brake alignment and ended up riding 23 miles. Maybe these PITA cantilever brakes aren't such a bad thing after all, if they keep me doing test rides.

A good day for a long bike ride. Rode 26 miles with my buddy Steve and 32 miles with my buddy Frankie for a total of 58 miles. Getting ready for the Coast 2 Coast ride next month so I'm doing some early-on, time in the saddle rides.

I didn't dress quite warmly enough for this morning's ride. Brrrrr. 16.1 on the Tarmac SL3.
In the afternoon while checking the mailbox it was sunny, no wind, so nice out I decided to try another ride, but drove to the bike path. And of course (Ma Nature being the fickle Bi*ch she is) as soon as I pulled the Tarmac SL out of the car there came a 10mph wind. But I got in another 8.9 fast miles for a total of 25 even. Fall is definitely here in the northern latitudes.

Had all the intentions of doing a really good, fast paced ride today but instead ended up doing a 50 mile, lazy day, solo ride. The ride started off really well until I got about 7 miles into the ride. I stopped to talk with a friend of mine and I guess I was stopped too long because after that, my mood changed and all I wanted to do was get in the 50 miles.
