Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale "Hot Yellow" Opinions

In the market for a new CAAD12 and noticed that Hot Yellow is listed as an option on the Cannondale USA website. I'm curious what everyone's opinions are. Does this color rock or not?
. Curious to hear what people's thoughts are.

I bought a Trek that was the same color with the idea it would make more visible to drivers. It didn’t work😂😂. The kid that hit hit me was looking at his phone. At least the color matches my hi vis colored clothing.

It's cool. I'm so tired of seeing so many black, white, gray, or silver bikes.

Wrong shade of yellow for me, if that pic's colour reproduction is accurate.

Other perspectives sometimes help me see things in different ways.

Here are some threads with more examples of Yellow bikes that you can compare to this Cannondale.

So many different shades of Yellow and obviously many different preferences amongst people about what appeals to them.

It's cool. Better than flat black (and I have one).

Not sure if I've come across that bike in the light of day. The color here doesn't look particularly "hot," but a lot of paint jobs these days are extra-vivid, so I figure there's a chance it's not your usual yellow. Maybe.
It's kind of old-fashioned, without being "retro," which is fine, but with the black lettering and all, it seems rather homely (like most C'dales, actually). With outline or light gray lettering, a sliver group and white bar tape a bright yellow bike might look nice, but as this is, black cages and bottles would probably balance everything out and it could look pretty sharp then - if you dig the bumble bee look, which I do.

I concur. Who thinks that this bike is attractive?

I imagine it attracts those who are looking for unassuming practicality.

Well...its a Cannondale, but has a sloping top tube.
Losing demographic left and right.

PS - not sure I care for the curve in the seat tube where it meets the BB. Shorten the chainstays for stiffness/acceleration. Ok.
Do this on a bike with an "endurance" height head tube? Maybe its a hybrid.

IM a big fan of Black and yellow bikes. More like a super bright neon highlighter or a Canary Yellow.

We're not talking about a subject with a lot of nuance - it's a color.

+1. Cannot articulate what I don't like about the shade, but I don't like it.

If you don't like Hot Yellow, there is always Black:

There is, however, this alternative.

This was my first Cannondale I bought in 2000, R800 CAAD4. Stock photo. So, yeah, I dig the yellow color scheme!

I’m preferenced toward a more sunflower yellow than neon.

I’ve always liked yellow for a bike color, but not for a car. Never wanted to buy a “lemon” for a car. It looks very nice on a bike!
