Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

IKR. Boggles my mind that it originated there but could not get legalized in Portland, OR. I was in ID again back in June. I was riding around a town and stopped for a stop sign when there was no traffic around. All of a sudden I thought "Wait! I'm in Idaho! I don't have to do that!" Earlier in the afternoon I had waited at a red light. DOH!

Very little elevation involved, but it did start and finish with a climb up the cobbled Libby Hill that the Worlds route used in 2015. That was fun, they had chip timing for the climb. Spoiler alert: I was not the winner.

Low population density and GAF factor is my guess.

I thought that that might be the case. About how long is that climb? Maybe I'll have to check it out in Dec/Jan if I bring the bike along again.

Yeah, with that in mind, I can see them just looking the other way, but codify it? That's pretty big.

Illinois does, too despite our multitude of faults.

Sitting at the tire store awaiting a decision on whether tire can be plugged. Despite the puncture being in the center of the tread, the chunk of metal protruding from the hole is ginormous. I imagine a new tire is in my future.

Real short, it's basically 2 mini-switchbacks, less than a minute if you're crushing it-

during a recent npr segment, they reported that almost all of the “walk” buttons in the area (dc metro incl. md and nova) do not do what you expect them to do (aka request a green/walk light), they only “speak” for the vision impaired when the light finally turns “walk”.
