It's cool hearing you say that!! I knew I could get her, and I knew I'd gone from a long way, but, hey...HR 172. There's a little on top of the top!

Awesome. I have a silver nats medal (two actually). I'm great with one because I was the first "human". Sometimes second ain't bad. The other grinds on me like sand.
Thing with Nats is that, with a few (very) rare exceptions, no one hands you a medal. You EARN it. Congrats to your teammate!

Ex, did you and VG get to spend any face time at the Nats?

You are in a beautiful place, riding a bike, presumably with people you like. That's all good stuff. Yes, winning something or at least doing well is nice, but we can't always have everything.
Plus there's always next year...

It's always tough when you do not meet your expectations but don't lose sight of the excellent year you have had.

Like the 100 y/o guy said to the judge when he got 50 years..."I'll do what I can"
The big players with a couple of exceptions are the guys I rode against Sunday. NorCal is stupid with talent in this age group. I'm a player, just need to have things shuffle out right. We had the break that should have won, but let the dead wood bicker us into stalling.
VG, I've done more than a few nats at this point and no one is handing out jerseys. You get a small number of folks who show up to see what all the fuss is about, and the rest are out for blood and crushing it in their respective area. Don't let a pretty decent result that didn't meet expectations do anything other than make you angry and a shark in the crit. See you Saturday.

Heh, yeah that's a good way to look at it. The crit is better suited to me, I'm going to reset mentally and give it 100% Saturday. A couple of glasses of wine and anice dinner with a bunch of my old and new racer friends was a good start.

IMHO, you are a talented athlete and very competitive at this level of racing. Believe in yourself and let it happen. No doubts!!!!! Good luck in the crit.

What Hermes said. And, I know you. I've ridden with you, and I've seen you race. You're top drawer, VG. Don't get the blues like I did last year, that's death spiral and not true. You'll be in your element tomorrow, relax, have fun, and crush it!

September 2015 Piru 20K TT
Won it.
Only two women were even in the race, I think I beat the other one by a minute and something. PRed it in a big way, around 2:20 off my previous personal best (which was on the road bike).
I rode this pretty conservatively, I just wasn't sure what I could do on this bike given all the changes I've made in the past 48 hours. I rode it in 34:20. Power was 177 watts overall, 175 going out and 178 coming back, only 5 watts off the road bike power and I'm sure I could have done full power on the TT bike, knowing what I know now. VI 1.0, sweet.
And I almost caught my 30 second guy, who was male, younger than me, with a disc wheel and a nice aero helmet.
Just triple happy with it, this TT bike has been a bit of a struggle. It was the fit, this new fit is way way way better.

Heathpack, really glad your fit worked out and congrats on the big PR!
My Masters Nationals crit went mediocre. It's so funny, it was actually going perfectly until one to go, positioning was great, able to follow attacks and stay near the front w/o being in the wind too much. At one to go I lost a few positions on the little hill, then didn't fight hard enough to make it up on the open back stretch, and was too far back coming through the last set of corners, and even though this year I was able to sprint, the finishing stretch was too short to make up much ground. 7th/15.
I did get to meet RacerEx in real life, which was really nice. Didn't stick around for his race, we had a 7 hour drive.
