Yes, I'm afraid so. A single pivot rear might have been acceptable, but if you're going to mismatch brakes, the rear brake needs to be weaker so you can claim you were intentionally matching up the modulation.

Not to worry. He rides bikes slightly taller than I, and I can always 'recall' former frames. Whether or not they get sold back to me is another matter. I have my Davidson as always, and now the 66cm Land Shark is back in my arms. Ideally a touring/sport touring-geometry'd bike makes its way into my possession so that I may be able to transfer the Paramount's Dura-Ace onto. I want to keep my Superbe Pro (currently on the Allez SE) that I worked so hard to track down (and built wheels, no less), so there is a bit of wait-and-see. I have my eyes on a few bikes/frames as candidates for some future heresy, so stay tuned!

All this indignation about the most minor faux pas, I worry what you guys will say when you see something really serious.
Like, for example, if I took a custom made frame from a small workshop in Europe (serial number: 4) and caused serious Gugifacazione to be worked on it?
And what if Gugifacazione involved 26" wheels, gloriously hacked dropouts, a new fork, and other modifications so weird you have never even dreamt them? A bike that has three shifters, all of them mounted in places they weren't designed for? And pink powder coat to top it all off?
Yeah, right about now your thinking "this post is worthless without pictures... thank God!"
Don't blame @gugie. It wasn't his idea.

Well lets start with the bar end shifters,
Dura-Ace SL-BS77 triple.
Crank is a Campagnolo Racing T with Campagnolo 111mm bottom bracket.
Self extractors are Spécialités, TA.
Chain wheels are Spécialités, TA 9/10 speed, 49, 39 tooth Vento, and 28 tooth Zelito rings.
Front derailleur is a 9 speed Campagnolo Racing T .
Chain is 9 speed SRAM hollow pin.
Cassette is a SRAM PG-990 11-32 Cassette (Redwin)
Rear derailleur is a Shimano Deore XT Shadow RD-M772 SGS.
Some how this all sings and dances happily together, indexing is perfect, the semi compact TA rings shift as well as any Shimano triples on my other bikes.
This is how the gearing plays out. Lets call it wide range.

Not C&V, but I decided to tidy up the wiring on my converted, ex-dockless e-bike and move the motor controller from the back to the front.
So I drilled a hole in the fender.
Feel free to guess where the power leads go from there. They exit out the front.

I'm a purest and I usually restore/build bikes that are period correct and ride them that way as God and Tullio intended. However, this bike I think meets Andy K's criteria?
Suntour cyclone rear with a more modern Shimano Ultegra front. Campy chorus hubs, Pacenti rims, Phil wood BB, TA crankset, MAFAC RAIDs, Weyless seat post, and 3TTT bar and stem.
Parts bin from top to bottom and it rides/works better than I thought possible.

I hereby admit hiding the fact that this bike has had a Campagnolo Record front hub in every picture I have shown up til now. Everything else being Dura Ace - it stuck out as a sore thumb! As if that was not enough - the hub was laced the wrong way. Valve fail - which I hid behind the fork legs in earlier pics. The wheel came this way and not until today I re-laced it the right way and to a Dura ace hub. Finally I can sleep well again!

Oh yeah!
For those really anal about it - the rims decals are reading from the wrong side. Did not bother this time. Did not want to re-lace the rear wheel too. Maybe when I am retired.
