Cannondale ST 1000....Finally

I’ve been searching for a 1000 for years and was finally able to pick one up today. Even came with the rack and bags, also a front rack and Superbe pedals. I’m switching the shifters to barcons and everything else will stay.

I'm happy with my 1985 ST 400 but I'd tempted to pick up one of these if it showed up locally. Nice score.

Congrats on finding a ST1000! LOVE that anthracite paint color they used. Black and light gold accents are money. Very classy.

Question: How do those original Grip Shifters work for you? I've thought they were super cool as the form and function integration is quite good, and lightyears better/sleeker/prettier than the modern Grip Shifters. If you don't want 'em...I know a guy.

Never used them and they were the first thing I removed. This pic is as soon as I got it home. I’m switching to barcons.

I don't normally give a second look at aluminum, but this bike is gorgeous! How do you like the ride? My son's Gary Fisher hybrid feels so dead and slow, so I guess I've imprinted that as the "aluminum vibe". But that's the only aluminum I've ridden. (I don't want to start anything. Maybe I should've stopped after "gorgeous").

Very cool ride !

I remember seeing that one in the '91 catalog. That headset looks like a Mavic, yes?

I purchased a similar Cannondale size small touring bike with all original components that may be more of a 93 or 9j4 model. It has a Brooks Professional (large rivet) saddle that is in perfect condition. It has the cantilever brakes and a custom metallic blue paint job with detailing on the top tube that makes it look like denim. I can post pictures later if anybody is interested.

This came up on eBay a few months ago on eBay from a local seller that get donated bikes and sells for charity. I was outbidded at the last second. Ended up it was a friend of mine who won the auction. One of the few bikes I was upset about not getting and he wasn’t about to sell it to me. A few days ago a Serotta Colorado AL popped up on Craigslist for $75, I ended up getting it after giving the seller a bit of info and a little more cash. Knowing my buddy would love to have the Serotta I made a proposition and a deal was struck. Very happy with the outcome. The Cannondale is in great shape and will make a great touring bike, I’ve got plenty of road bike and really wasn’t very fond of the aluminum Serotta. Other than swapping shifters I put a smaller inner chainring, new cables and cleaned and regreased the bearings. New tan bar tape is on order. I’ll see how the original tires hold up before I order new Paselas.
