Looking for any information regarding Motobecane Super Champion.

Hi all, I recently acquired a Motobecane Super Champion in a poor condition. I've put new tyres on, and bar tape, as well as a good clean and tune up. When I bought it, I tried researching it, and found out very little. I'm interested where it sat in their range, all the old catalogues I've come across have been American, and I don't think it was ever released in the US. Any help would be greatly received. Thanks!

Never seen a green one, there is a thread that shows orange ones that are very much the same as Team/ Champion/ Team, full Campy/Cinelli so they are top of the line.

This one looks good but obviously somewhere down the line.

Is that a 531 sticker at the top of the ST and I assume the DO's are Huret?

I think you found a nice score, Moto's are nice no matter what level, I would guess this to be maybe upper middle.

The experts should be along shortly.

I'll look for the other thread when I get home.

Here's some info, a nice quick read:

Motobecane Super Competition Vintage Road Bike Restore (Note: The link says "Super Competition," but the bike pictured is a Super Champion.)

You are correct on both assumptions. The sticker is somewhat illegible but it looks like a 531 now you say it. I paid £80 for it so I'm hoping that was a good investment.
Reading the link in the other reply it seems that person had similar trouble find information!

Your decal states 3 tubes reinforces which would have been the main 3 tubes in the triangle. This places it somewhere below the full 531 bikes. For an English comparison it would have been similar in materials to the Raleigh super course.

So obviously the red one is same as yours and another chapter in non N America Moto lore.

Here's the other Super Champion thread I was talking about and the two are definitely not the same but they do share the name, odd, weird or just French?
