Schvall rhymes with all, hall, and call
Be rhymes with bee, see, and tee.
written as Schwalbe, that “w” sounds like a “v”.
or make your LBS guys chuckle and call it Skualbay.

It's pronounced differently.
Where do you live?
Which pronunciation do you desire?
American, English, German, Chinese, Swahili?

Separately, you are both wrong but together you are right. It’s Schval-buh. It means swallow (the bird) in German.

'Sch' is pronounced like the first letter of the solid waste stuff that comes from your bottom
The rest is standard English I believe. Correction, as explained above by hsuBM, the 'w' is pronounced as a simple 'v'.
That's how you pronounce the 's' in 'stein' as in Einstein.

That's like the foreign non-English guy who says to a real estate agent, sorry I can't buy this house or any house in this town... (because he has a problem pronouncing 'TH' and the house is at 333 Thornton place in Thule (to use the above example).

You pronounce it the same as Campagnolo, Tange, Dedacciai, Guerciotti, and SRAM.

Non omnino gravis
How do I pronounce it? Well, I'm not German, I don't speak German, and I'm not in Germany, so it's shwall-bee. As to how I feel about whether that's correct or not, <shrug>
Thule is easy. Too-lee.
We went through this (and still go through this) in automotive circles about Tein Suspension. The proper Japanese pronunciation is tane, but you'll forever hear tee-in or tine. I speak English (sorta) so it's tee-in for me.

Too-luh. But since this ‘Merica and we know nothing about foreign languages...myself included...I would probably pronounce it Thu-lee...as I would ask for “swall-bee” tires...when asking about in a shop. I get tired of blank stares after a while.
And, just to be clear, I do my own share of language butchery. I grew up in the southern part of Callarada near Pebla near where the Appachapi River flows in to the Arkansas River just upstream of La Huna. I spent a lot of time wandering in the canyons of the Picketwire River. Just over the way was Onley Springs.
Translation: Colorado, Pueblo, Apishapa (stinking waters in Arapaho), La Junta (junction in Spanish), Olney Springs. And the real butchery was El Rio de Las Animas Perdidas en Purgatoir which we called the Purgatory River and some shortened to the Picketwire (and we don’t even pronounce that right).
The one thing I would never do, by the way, is call it the Ar-kansas River. Them’s fightin’ words!

Now that raises an interesting point, Wildwood: It appears that the tires are actually made in Asia. What's yer version of Schwalbe in Korean?

>> Schval-buh.
>> Too-luh.
Kudos to cyccommute for having exactly the right idea for the Germanic 'throw-away' vowel at the end. It's difficult to explain to Americans that it's not "Schval-BEE", nor is it "Schvalb"... it's a sound that ends the word and is clearly present but is deemphasized.
Pedantically yours, -mathias

according to a friend....
tire prices? think of it this way. Each of those two tires are much more important to your health&wellbeing than any one auto tire. What do you pay for auto tires?
