I did 65 wet, cold UK miles today on my 85 SLX Team Panasonic. still going strong with a 10 speed groupset

Is your ride experience similar to the Road Test findings?
In particular, is the ride comfortable over long distances and is handling a bit "high strung" or twitchy?

I've got a few SLX frames and agree its makes a great all day bike, and I've done quite a few centuries on it. I've got 25c clinchers on it which helps in the comfort deptartment over 23's.

I've always felt the seat tube on Merckx bikes to be quite slack, but I've never noticed the headtube as being steep (I've got an Italian bike with a steeper headtube and that is a bit twitchier) but I don't find the Merckx handling twitchy at all, stable and predictable I'd say, and I've got a 12cm stem and can ride no handed
