Nishiki

I don't know if they qualify as classic or vintage, but I'm wondering about the desirability of Nishiki touring bikes.
How do these models stack up ;
Continental
Cresta GT
International
Riviera GT
Seral
Not sure whether these are full on touring bikes, or sport tourers.

Can't speak to the rest but the Cresta / Cresta GT is a fine vintage touring bike. It comes with triple water bottle cage braze ons which some of the vintage classic tour bikes do not provide.

I have a dozen or so bikes and my Cresta GT is my "go to" bike. I ride that one 98.5% of the time. It's super comfy and holds all my doo dads.

Edit: I have had it for over twenty five years so I consider that vintage...

I have a Riviera GT and like it a lot. Double bottle bosses, Tange Infinity tubes, Mangalloy forks, Suntour symmetric shifters, and LePree RD.

There should be some more catalog pages on the internet if you look.

Continental I think had better components than the International, at least in 1983.

I certainly liked the 1987 Cresta GT enough to buy one hope to have the rebuild finished soon so I can ride it

Those are from the days when Kawamura had learned how to make a world class frame. My former brother-in-law bought a Cresta during the 1980s, and I was impressed by it and how far Nishiki had come since my dead-feeling, spongy 1971 Semi-Pro, which I naively happily rode for 20 years until the frame broke and I replaced it with a real bike (Peugeot PKN-10 and later the Bianchi).

The Seral seems to be a semi-sought after touring bike

I have an 85 Cresta that has been fantastic. They really are nicely made and ride well. Unfortunately, mine will be for sale as I'm running out of room and have several similar bikes.

I would still be riding my riviera GT if I had the patience to do what was needed to get fatter tires on it. I passed it on to son #1 for a commuter and it was stolen within a year.
