Spring Is Sprung

At least in my neighborhood it is. I've not been riding this winter due to health issues that are now in the past. The last few days have been warmish and trees are about to bud and I got that "ole feeling" and took the bike out several times. The critters that live here seem to feel the same as they have been very active - birds everywhere, including newly arrived hawks but no Ospreys yet, squirrels are unusually frisky, and this morning I saw a very Red Cardinal. In the past I would have been coming off ski season and acclimated to cold. Like the wildlife here, I'm now glad to see warmer days.

First time in months it has been above freezing here in the morning. I knew it was spring by the song birds sing. They changed their tune today. How wonderful!

Contrary to what the rest of you may think, we do have four distinct seasons here in weather wimp coastal southern California. We are definitely into spring at this point.

We have four seasons here in North Texas too. It's just that three of them happen in the same month.

Nowruz mobarak - I think the Persian (Zoroastrian) New Year on the first day of spring make a whole lot more sense than Jan. 1!

Robins are singing and what snow we get from here on out will be subject to the blazing Colorado post-equinox sun! Delightful time of year, enjoy it more as I get older.

It has been feeling like spring! Wet today, but at least it fell as rain and not snow. Need to get my bike ready for a ride Sunday since it looks like the weather will cooperate.

I took a beautiful Spring ride out to Ventura Harbor this morning and watched the Bald Eagle with her young on the video feed from Santa Cruz Island. You can't really see the young as they are only 2 months old and still grey. It was an awesome ride and a wonderful experience to see the Eagles. Joe

Today, Sunday is a warm (58 F) day and the cycling tribe is out in force with bikes everywhere. Part of the ride goes past a pond where an Osprey family has been making a home for a number of years. After their long flight from winter quarters they are a welcome sight.. This is my longest ride in many months and it is like starting out cycling all over again.

Spring has sprung in S Texas because the wasps are buzzing around dive bombing.
