Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I find it disappointing they left Wabi off the list. Most bang for the buck in my opinion.

The references to riding around town with photos and descriptions of brakeless bikes and "Pulling up on the pedals to stop" as somehow being pure is unfortunate.

It is nice that fixed gear bikes are getting some recognition in the media though. I wish more riders would realize how much fun they are to ride.

The sampling featured in that article runs the full gamut from $300 boat anchors painted to look pretty, to a $26,000 pro track bike. The only common attribute is they're all fixed gear drivetrains. I'm glad they featured several mid-range models. And you're right, @TimothyH, the wording in their descriptions is a lot of marketing bull ca-ca. It's still fun to see the lineup they chose.

Some gorgeous bikes in there. Thanks for sharing the link. It's surprising how such nice bikes can be so cheap. I know there's savings on chainsets and brakes, but I'm still surprised.

The Wabi Classic looks kinda short - wouldn't you run into foot strike issues with panniers?

Pretty sure they're out of business and no longer sold. You can still go on their page and add 1 to your cart, but the checkout page will just bring up an error.

So many of the new fixie companies either make junk products, aren't in it for the long haul, or both. It makes the few that stick around and make good stuff even more valuable.

I could be wrong but I'll bet what happens is that it takes you to a page that is updated regularly so next year it will be 2020. Just a guess.
