Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks for the link. Some good looking machines there, but the website is horrendous.

EDIT: Found a bit more info elsewhere. 10,000 euros, VAT included. It is not too bad.

Yeah, the federal gov't doesn't dick people around like that either, but it's unusual in many respects.

I told the patient I am sorry about the situation and respect his decision if he wants to get his care elsewhere. He was pretty firm about how he felt.
In the manufacturing sector, particularly petrochemicals, that is not standard. Health care benefits begin immediately and include open enrollment no matter what time of year you start the new job. Pre-existing conditons are generally covered. Now savings plans are a different story, often not kicking in for a full year. But the prospective employee could utilize COBRA to bridge the health care benefits gap, so even though the policy is not particularly generous, it should not cause a hardship.

Time to crack a beer and (prolly) swear at my computer as I upgrade things a bit.

I didn't realize that my current ssd was only 240gb and that I didn't have much room left on it, so I decided to get a newer, faster, more spacious model.

1TB on this little thing. Crazy.

Ya never know somebody til you live with them. Tell him not to let the doorknob hit him . . . you know the rest. But I know you’re too nice for that. Then tell him you’d be happy to have his records sent to wherever he chooses.

It’s been 40 years since I started my career so I don’t recollect, but knowing Ma Bell, whom usually spared no expense on its employees, we prolly started medical immediately. Nowadays, those penny-pinching bastids at Verizon probably have a similar 60 day or even longer waiting period.

Shocked! Shocked!!
Some friends are down for part of the winter, with their road bikes. We chit chatted a little bit, until it came out that they were familiar with neither the term 'brifters' nor 'not bibs'. What other terms don't they know? I thought that ALL american cyclists would know these things. I see I've been led down the garden path.....

Really! I just got back from a doctor visit and the nurse said she had her gall bladder removed a few weeks ago. It was done by robot! The surgeon was somewhere else operating a "video game" with two joy sticks.

I never heard those terms before arriving at this site back in 2016. Most definitely led down the road to ruin. As bad as that is, it is offset by learning about awesome shovels Marigold jackets and elegant, lightweight and aero seatposts.

A 30 or 60 day wait is commonplace. A lot of companies have a policy that if you are covered for 1 day, the coverage extends to the end of the month. At most you go 30 days paying Cobra - if the company is large enough to be required to offer it. I think it is >20 employees. No reason, in my opinion, to get that hacked off about it. Sounds like he is living paycheck to paycheck.

Sounds ridiculous and I've never seen or heard of anything like it. Looks like a red flag to me and I wouldn't take it either.
