Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does anyone have an update on the plowing up Tioga pass from Lee Vining side? I'd like ride up there when the it's clear to the pass but the road hasn't opened.

From the Yosemite side, the Yosemite website is your best source for Tioga Pass Road plowing update.

From the Lee Vining side, see Caltrans > State Route 120 W at Lee Vining. Most recent report was from last July, so that page apparently is not being updated.

There is an Instagram report from a week ago:

"caltransd9
State Route 120 W Update: Maintenance crews from Lee Vining are roughly two miles from the eastern entrance to @Yosemitenps
The snow on the road is deep, and crews are using a dozer in tandem with a blower to get the job done."

memorial day weekend is the unofficial bookmark for having hwy 120 cleared for the approach from lee vining.
many years that works. in the case of rain/snow years such as 2023/2024, may need to wait till mid-june.
all that said, it is an epic ride from mono lake/june lake/lee vining and back down.

Thought there was a regional specific forum.
