Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Carrying dozens of packages when you don't need to while it sways around precariously on your rear rack. That's what's not to love. Wish I had snuck a photo.

Going riding soon. Baklava weather.

BTW, been up since 4 AM, CT. Trying to recoup my 7 hours of time zone changes. Yesterday was 3 AM so I guess 4 AM is an improvement.

For the record, nothing could be further from the truth. Instant ramen noodles lack many important nutrients, like protein, fiber, vitamins A, B-12 & C, calcium, magnesium, potassium, antioxidants and phytochemicals.

Yeah, but it makes up for all of that by being fried in oil - everybody knows this, man.

Went well for being off the bike for 15-16 days. I rode Fulgaz which is my preferred program since I'm not training or running structured workouts.

Since I pay for Strava and check their performance graphs, it was interesting that they claim I lost 50 "points" on fitness but it also shows that I'm very "rested."

It will be interesting to see how Strava shows my "fitness" after today's outdoor sojourn.

I used to pound ramen when I was younger because it was fast and easy. Now that I'm "older" one pack of that stuff will send me into a full-body funk for 12 hours or more. If I eat one before bed, my heartbeat will keep me awake for hours then I'll wake up the next morning in a cold sweat.

Bad voodoo all around.

I sure do miss the almost daily snow commutes of 3 years ago.

And those days when the temperature didn't seem like a temperature, just a random single digit number off to the right of the time...

I love me some fancy instant ramen (like Shin Black), but yeah, I notice now that it does have an effect on me, too. In addition to the funk, there seems to be a weird 2-3 day weight gain every time. I assume that it's some water retention because of the sodium content, but who knows.

My wife's gravel bike (aka my future gravel bike) has through axles. What do I need to do to make the levers point the right way? Currently the front one points downward when fully tightened and I can't seem to align it in any other way.

Without loosening, try pulling the lever straight out and rotating - mine have a spring and teeth; I assume that most others are the same.

Some of them are that way. There are others that are like pseudo QRs that you can orient any direction. With Rock Shox Maxles, for instance, the lever can rotate freely, then you put it in a channel to actually turn the axle.
