Cycle NC Day 4-Eventful Day?!?!?

Cycle NC DAY 4. 80 miles from Siler City to Clayton.

What an eventful day. An incredible breakfast at Rest Stop 1 prepared by the Methodist church. Scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes.

Rick, Doug and I rode together. Unfortunately Doug crashed at a pretty high speed on a downhill as a

Sunset!

Last Rest Stop in my old home town.

Lumberjack breakfast, pancakes coming soon!

Busy kitchen.

Two cycling friends from another area.

Doug getting bandages after his crash.

Country church family center. Great breakfast behind the doors!
tractor trailer was passing us. Fortunately just a couple scrapes but very scary. The SAG van stopped and got his scrapes patched up. Very thankful he didn’t fall out towards the tractor trailer.

After the next rest stop, a car started to pull out right in front of me as I was leading the 3 of us down the road. We all yelled and swerved and she stopped just before taking the three of us out.

A few miles later an impatient pick up truck driver passed us very closely. We hollered at him and he saluted us out the window waving his hand. Unfortunately for him an unmarked patrol vehicle was right behind him. Blue lights flashed pretty quickly!!!

Our last rest stop was in Garner where I graduated from High School. Fortunately we have a rec center building tonight that is air conditioned. Hooray!

Hate that the crash happened but as you pointed out the luck could have been far worse. Beautiful sunset and breakfast How often are patrol cars around when you need them; wow, that was nice. Have fun and try not to melt!

Just when you think “there’s never a cop around when you need one.” Glad you guys survived.
