I will say, the larger sunglasses are IMO much better as it's harder for air to sneak under the lenses and irritate your eyes. I never liked the tiny lens style from the mid-2000s.

They also give you a wider, less obstructed field of view and the higher top edge, in particular, caters to the more aggressive position typical with road cyclists.

IME the ones that are tighter to your face fog up, but if they sit a tiny bit further away from your eyes they handle that better. I have a pair of these and they haven't ever fogged up on me (also have little vents on the top of the lens)-

sadly due to needing prescription, most of the sport sunglasses are ruled out, in the end RayBan wayfarer works the best. Gray polarized lens is a little dark for cloudy days, my next pair gonna try transition drivewear

Personally, I have a pair of Rudy Projects with the Rx insert so I don't need new lenses if my Rx changes.

I wear contact lenses. I wouldn’t wear them full time, but I can put up with them when I ride. I ride with jawbreakers. I like I can use different lenses depending on the conditions and you can find them pretty cheap.

That's what I have for the same reason, but they don't fit well. I have brought them in to be adjusted, but they can only tighten them so much. I may go with a prescription insert in sports glasses.

I went to Costco for a new prescription and bifocal sunglasses. That day they had exactly one pair of frames that might be good sunglasses; Rayban-like frames of unknown name on display. They happened to fit very nicely. Bought 'em and ordered polarized grey lenses. Yes, the issue you see of being too dark on cloudy days but other than that, one of the very best pairs of sunglasses I've ever owned. Very good prescription. The frames are a joy to wear and ride in. Glasses disappear. (And I regularly walk indoors and wonder why they don't turn on the lights!)

The Costco employee who tweaked the temples complained how hard they were to bend. I'm thinking - "exactly what I want to own!"

I need to research the frames and get the model # so I can do this again. The Costco experience was very satisfactory and not just because they were a very good price. Only my prescription Vaurnets (those mirrored sunglasses fashionable in the '80s) were as good as these (for racing sailboats; they were lousy for cycling). And the Costco's probably cost me the same number of dollars 30 years later!

I wear contacts so prescription sunglasses are not necessary. I have a big-ass, melon head and face so Tifosi Dolomite sunglasses work well for me. Dolomites are well under $75 so they don't break the bank if they have to be replaced and are comparable in quality to Oakley, etc...which cost twice as much.

I'm on my third pair of cycling-specific prescription sunglasses, and every subsequent pair has had bigger lenses than the last. So I have no issue with the OP's choice. Bigger lenses work better.

+1 on larger sunglasses and prefer frameless (i.e. Oakley EVZERO or SmithOptics Attack MAX model). However, best all around for me is the GIRO Air Attack Shield. You get an unobstructed vision coverage with no disruption from the frame.
