if it were me i would stay black on the tires. red may look really good though... i cant decide.

two of my three bikes have deda faux carbon tape in black and my girls bike has it in white. i really like the stuff for its price and durability. you can pull it extremely tight and it can also be rewrapped (on the same bars) if you need to pull it back far enough to replace the cables. my tommasini will probably see the new perforated deda tape next time around.

on top of all of that i have a new found love for deda. i had a second hand deda quill stem that had a seized wedge bold. i emailed deda to see if i could buy a replacement bolt and wedge and the north american director relied to my email after 11:30pm and mailed me replacement parts free of charge without me asking.

And you were able to fit them through the quill alright? I would love to keep my quill stem but the ease of a modern stem makes me tempted to forget the quill. I've got a nice 3t mutant but it doesn't look all that good with the whole threaded fork/headset thing.

I might have to get a set of those Nittos.

Beautiful bike. Although I appreciate what you're doing with the color on the tires I think some regular gum walls would look much better against the blue.

I think he should go even further and paint the ergo paddles to contrast the black levers to match the tires

I saw your thread on this bike. Great looking and very understated. I really like the 'chrome' powedercoating on the fork.

I hope that the personal satisfaction from this build made up for your frustration on that recent Peugeot project.

Nice work.

Thanks and Thanks to the others for nice comments.

I have gumwall tyres on my other bikes so wanted to try something different on this build. Gets very boring when all ten of my bikes have either black or gumwalls. Any how these race tyres wont last me that long so may go back to gumwalls which can be done in a matter of minutes.

Cheers. Silver Athena weren't available at the time, and I don't think 2011 ones have multi up and down shifts. However this will be my next mod.

Thanks!

For multiple downshifting you don't want the Power Shift mechanism used in the 2011 Athena gruppo indeed. That only allows for one up/downshift per click I believe. Did they ever make polished Ultra Shift 11speed levers?

Seriously, beautiful f'ing bike!! I've been dying to see a nice Italian steel bike with the alloy Athena group on it. I'm going to second getting the alloy shifters as it will really put the icing on the cake.
Could that be a white Brooks Swallow!? That must have cost a pretty penny, I wasn't even sure if they existed. I must say though, I think a nice white Regal saddle will look much better and be way more build appropriate.

I don't think they made alloy ultra shift levers in 11spd.

I would be tempted to buy a set of alloy shifters and swap out the brake blade and shift lever. Then resell the "new" ones with the carbon blades. I looked at swapping centaur alloy brake blades to Athena shifters when they first came out.

They used to sell the spare parts loose in 10spd but I am not sure they still do
