K-Edge to Garmin out front, which sits lower ??
Which one sits lower i just bought a garmin out front it sits low but, was wondering if some of you know if either the k edge or the garmin sit lower?
my garmin mount is slightly, very slightly of center when i put the 510 on it, but seems like its a common thing,, does this happen to your Garmin out front mount is it also slightly of center??

Price doesn't bother you anymore after about a week after spending the money. It's a $50 dollar part, it's not Zipp wheels or something. With the K edge, the computer sits at the middle of the bar. With the Garmin mount, it sits at the level of the top of the bar. The k-edge is a much better looking product.

I purchased a Garmin Out Front Combo mount for both Edge and Virb/GoPro just this week. The Edge is twisted slightly when in the mount.
It vibrates so bad that the video is not worth watching.

I just mount my Garmin 800 to the stem with the simple mount it came with which works great. Why do folks go with other mounts like the K-Edge etc.? Is it because it more aero? It adds more weight and I can't imagine that it makes much if any difference with regards to the aero properties.

Because it's easier to see. You don't have to move your head as much to look down at the screen. It has nothing to do with aero, although there are some mounts optimized for aero, which is probably mostly just silly and a way to get you to spend even more money for bling.

You might also check out Bar Fly mounts. I have a Bar Fly 2 and it is designed to sit low like the K-Edge. It's also $20 on Amazon. The difference it is made out of plastic, but the thing is solid. I crashed my bike on one - the bike went bouncing and slid a good 10 feet, but the Garmin stayed mounted and unharmed to my surprise.

+1 on Bar Fly. They are top shelf and make some unique mounts that use the bolts on the front of the stem for a really slick look. Would go well with a high-end bike for those who happen to have the particular stems.
Also check out Fouriers.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
I have the barfly, and the Garmin out front that came with my 510. It blows my mind that the Garmin mount made by Garmin is crooked. It's for THEIR product. Why would it be so hard to get a piece of molded plastic right? It should be all right angles in terms of mounting holes, etc. It's not that hard. It drives me insane.
I have two bikes, so I put the nice one on the nice bike and the Garmin on on the daily rider that is slightly less nice. I can live with it, but if money wasn't tight, I'd order another barfly immediately.

SRAM MTB computer mount. Fits my Pinarello road bike perfectly and if you put in on backwards it lays my Edge 1000 right on top of my stem where it is easy to see, yet is protected and not obtrusive. And under $20.

I've not seen it mentioned, but the Edge 520 moved the start/stop and lap buttons to the bottom edge of the case, and when mounted in the K-Edge the buttons are far more awkward to reach than any previous Garmin.
Just for the 520 I'd tend to use a mount that raises it higher than the K-Edge, but for the rest I like it a lot (I have the K-Edge with the combined GoPro mount that I use occasionally for a headlight, so resolved to put up with it).
