bafang BBS03 BBSHD 48V1000W on yuba mundo

Hi,

I'm wanting to add an electrical assist to my Yuba Mundo V2 (to help getting up hills when laden, and to avoid arriving at work drenched in sweat in summer). Looking at the options this seems to be the standout
Aliexpress.com: 48v 1000w bafang BBSHD electric bike kit.

Does anyone have any idea if this will fit my V2 mundo? And does anyone have any idea if this site/seller is legit? Anyone bought anything from them? (I can't go via a US seller because I live in Japan so shipping the battery is an issue - tho that site is saying shipping to japan for the battery is about $60 Aliexpress.com : Samsung tube electric bike battery 36V10.4Ah B 02

Thanks!

The BBSHD is an exceptional kit. It will fit almost ANY bike because it comes in different bottom bracket widths up to 120mm, do your homework on the intended target bike and make sure you get the drive unit that will clear the chainstays if you are dealing with anything bigger than 2" tires. The controller in integrated with the motor for less wiring clutter and the power is great. I don't know what the rules are in Japan but the EU is limited to 250w and the US generally 750w to be "street legal" , your call. $60 to ship a LiIon pack is not crazy expensive though the pack you linked to is a 36v pack, the bbshd will be happiest with 48 or 52 even. In general here in the US we buy from a California company that is a huge Bafang dealer if we HAVE to buy from China the ONLY vendor that is universally trusted is Paul from EM3EV.

This article was written by someone who has way too much time and money to spend on eBikes. As such he has made every possible mistake you can make and posts about it. He strongly advises against using eBay or Aliexpress but does vouch for Paul. https://electricbike-blog.com/2016/0...ot-get-punked/. Given how much time this guy spends on eBikes and then posting about his experience I trust him enough to not try and do the stuff that has caused him grief.

I have bought multiple items on aliexpress with no problems. That should handle your other concern. Dont forget to post when you finish your build.

Thanks very much! I'll look into EM3EV and the BB size issue.

Updates

OP- what did you end up with? I'm looking at converting a Mundo v4 with the Bafang BBSHD 1000w and would love to hear any tips/ suggestions from your build.

um, I haven't done it yet, I got busy with life/work etc, but I still want to do it, hopefully sometime over the summer, I'll post back with results, in the meantime if you make any progress I'd be interested to hear about it!
