You literally would have been told of this within the first minute of watching the race broadcast (assuming you managed to miss it all over every cycling social media site). You're not missing out on anything.

Spoiler alert, from VeloNews: Chris Froome could become winner of 2011 Vuelta after UCI cites Juan Jose Cobo for biological passport violations

That would be a nice win while he is in the ICU. Sadly, it sounds like this crash could end his racing career.

This isn't even close to being a spoiler and there certainly is nothing "to be careful about" here.

Well said.

For the rest...

As for Froomie, I feel bad for him that he was in such a bad accident. Hope he makes a full recovery. Terrible thing for him and his loved ones. I'm definitely NOT a fan, although I do respect his accomplishments and abilities. I would much rather he be in the TdF and get beat than not be in it at all, especially under these circumstances. Hopefully we'll have a surprise winner this year.

He'll be as happy as Andy S was winning the Tour.

Armstrong and his cronies wrecked careers, made threatening phone calls to women, brought legal suits against journalists (complete with perjured testimony); all to screw anybody who dared to speak the truth (even if that person did so because he as called up by a grand jury). You and I would be behind bars for what Armstrong and his cronies did. Very few other riders, teams and support casts did the like. He also had inside help at UCI: telephone calls to announce out-of-competition tests and testing riders threatening Armstrong on GC at the Tour when requested by Postal/Discovery. It wasn't remotely an even playing field.

From a cycling perspective, it is pretty easy to believe he did what everyone else did.
Guess I don't know what career wrecking and threatening calls has to do with cycling anymore than betting on dog fights has to do with football. I have no issue with civil or criminal trials, just that is not cycling.
Weak officials is on the UCI. Just as in soccer a weak ref is on FIFA. Athletes are to win, or actually to entertain in a way their bosses make more money and they get more money.
That is what it has been for 50 years at least and I see no end. I rather dislike it, but the bike part seems more like speeding to me.

The ruin peoples lives/ careers is different, although - Who? Who is ruined and making less money than if Lance had been less of a performer?

Yes, back to Froome. I liked the guy. I rooted against him, but I liked him. Of course he was a doper. How are you going to win without doping?

Cadel and Sastra (maybe) but everyone else needed some help. Lemond needed help - he was shot! The only difference I see is sometimes doping is allowed.

Well, you kinda get a chip on your shoulder when everyone and their mother is coming after you specifically, when you haven't done anything more than what every one else has.

Froomy's bad 'luck' sure makes G.Thomas' job a lot simpler.
