Individual sprint - training and preparation

Hi,
I have a assignment where i have to imagine I was selected for the 2008 Olympis in the individual sprint. But i have unfortuatley never done the event and need some advice on how elite athletes would train and prepare so they could perform at there peak. I have indentified some factors what would affect their performance

1. Energy systems - ATP and mybe Lactic acid

2. Principles of training - Progressive Overload; Specificity, Reversibility, Variety, Training thresholds,
Warm up/Cool down

3. types of training - Aerobic or endurance training -Continuous training, Fartlek training, Interval training
- strength - Increase Absolute strength, Increase relative strength, Increase strength endurance, Increase power

Hello Rachel, I'm not certain how we can help you with this, other than generalities, but I'm going to move this to Training & Nutrition to see if the athletes there can help.

Welcome to BikeForums!

The shorter the event, the more the training focuses on the upper zones.
