I'm planning my first long tour, well long for me. Done several shorter trips. Looking forward to one long enough to "smooth out". Budgeting 4 weeks to ride the perimeter for the UP of Mi beginning mid may. Excited!

We were tossing around various ideas, but it looks like Canada will be the destination this year.
Plus a bunch of short tours, mainly of the hub-and-spoke variety ... but we've been talking about doing an overnighter from home at some point.

The idea of doing a canoe overnighter has come up as well, now that we have our canoe again. We'll see.

Our plans are beginning to firm up. Four of us are planning on a self-supported credit-card tour along the Natchez Trace Parkway in October, though if we can persuade our one anti-camping group member, we might work in a couple of over-nighters in campgrounds though we haven't started to research that.

I recently had an offer for SAG support from a friend, so planning an 11 day ride from my home in NW Arkansas (live 5 miles from the Missouri border). In September this year, I plan to ride south from my home through western Arkansas, to Texas, then on to the Gulf of Mexico, then as close to Galveston, TX as I can get (a little over 600 miles). I've heard cyclists aren't allowed on the bridge into Galveston from the east. Always wanted to do a ride, starting in my driveway, and going as far possible, until I come to an ocean.
Depending on the weather and how I feel, I can generally do 60-75 miles a day. So if I get to Galveston and still have time, I might head west for a day or two.

We're off to Porto, Portugal end of September with a return flight from Alicante, Spain 30 days later. We've always wanted to do a Portuguese / Spanish tour away from touristic areas, along rural roads and small villages.

Hi,
I am planning a tour in Holland (Europe) "Island Hopping Wadden Sea"
Clear blue sea, screeching seagulls and sunbathing seals.
On one hand, the North Sea and on the other hand, the Wadden Sea, a stay on the islands is a unique experience. The untouched nature of the islands invites to hike and bike. If you want to relax on the beach or like strolls, there are lots of opportunities on the islands for you. From the small town Harlingen you hop on a ferry to the islands of Vlieland and Terschelling.

I am planning our first tour ever. My wife and I are planning a credit card tour from Santa Barbara to San Diego. We will drive to our daughter house in La Mesa. Take a train to Santa Barbara. Then take 5 days spending the night in hotels in Santa Barbara, Malibu, San Pedro, Laguna Beach, and La Jolla before riding back to La Mesa. On the way we will be celebrating 40 years of marriage and my 58th birthday. I predict this will be the first of many.

Things firming up here too. Dragged the spouse along the GAP last year (he likes his biking in short, sharp spurts, while I prefer a longer, slower route), and he loved it, and then I went to Oregon without him for a month. For this year:
A week in Kentucky in May (small group, supported)
Three weeks in France/Germany in July (half supported, half not, with four different friends for an average of 4-5 days apiece)
Quebec's P'tit Train du Nord in September (with spouse)
Somewhere (probably in North America) for a week in October (with another friend)
Putting Kettle Valley on the list for next year, unless I change my mind.

Flights booked. Two week cycling trip to Georgia and Armenia, flying in and out of Tbilisi. Flying back to US and then three days later flying to India for four weeks of work. Wild card is whether I take my bike to India or leave it home this time.

A few weeks after I do the 2-day Seattle to Portland ride, I plan on doing a loop around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. I'll start in Tacoma, head up NW to Port Townsend, hang a left and and ride west across the top of the Peninsula, then hang another left and follow the Pacific coast south to Ocean Shores. Then I'll follow Highway 101 to Olympia and back home to Tacoma.
I'm also planning a ride from Tacoma, Washington to Boulder, Colorado. I don't know if I'll have the cash to fit it into 2015 though. But I'd love suggestions on a route from Washington to Colorado!

- Started off riding down the Oregon Coast, hard to beat that ride, though I did end up with a fair amount of rain
- Cut inland just past the CA border and then across via Grant's Pass, Ashland and Tulelake
- Came across corner of CA and then via Cedarville NV, Gerlach and Fernley
- Took US 50, across NV, another fun ride
- After US 50, from Delta UT and then to Price, UT. Wanted to swing down via Moab, but a little too hot so came into CO via US 40 and CO 14

Vancouver, BC to Nova Scotia to do the Cabot Trail. Then maybe down along the US east coast to St. Augustine, Florida and head back west via the ACA Southern Tier Route to San Diego, California. If I'm not sick of bicycle touring by then I'll carry on south along the Pan-American Highway to Argentina for the Winter.

First tour this summer to celebrate my 30th birthday, riding from Niagara Falls to the Statue of Liberty via the Erie Canal trail and bike route 9. I had planned a variation of this route last year to take with my daughter, but my work schedule and general safety concerns made me cancel them. She's spending the summer with her mom so I'll be doing it this summer solo. Only scheduled two weeks off of work. Planning to turn off all technology, ride an average of 60-80 miles a day, live off of PB&J sandwiches and ice cream, and camp each night. Looking forward to it.

Just back from an 11 day Bikepacking trip of the Mawson Trail in South Australia. An ~900km dirt trail that runs form Adelaide to the small town of Blinman in the Flinders Ranges.
Stealth camp first night above the town of Tanunda.

Nice. How do you like the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL 1? I'm going to upgrade to it in the future. Lightest 1-person tent in that price range imo.

Very happy. Only real complaint are when opening the vestible if raining water can drip / fall into the tent as can heavy condensation. Also bought and used the Big Agnes ground sheet - would be nice if the groundsheet also covered the vestible floor...
I've heard good things about the Tarptent Protrail which may be another option to consider? You can order optional poles to use without hiking poles.

Leaving for the Black Hills and NW Nebraska in less than a month. Just made the last of the necessary/advisable lodging/camping reservations this morning.
