backpack for personal training with vertical slots

saw a guy at my gym at lunch walking on the treadmil wearing a form fitting backpack with vertical slots in 2 rows. I think I remember a flap or other larger storage area but now I'm not sure. It was probably something to hold weights, or sand so that you get a better workout without wearing weight on your wrists or ankles. I couldn't find one online just now though. At first i thought it really suspicious so I called it in. God forbid it's something serious, right? I wouldn't want to be the one who dropped the ball. I'd rather look like an idiot than be an idiot.

Anyway, anyone ever see a pack like that?

UPDATE, just a matter of entering the right thing into google. apparently there's a new thing called low intensity cardio? AND ALSO FOR Osteoporosis Exercise. look at the picture of the guy with the trenchcoat though. if you saw someone wearing that what would you think?

here are some others. I just think in this day and age these present a problem.

I haven't seen any research on this. For a while it was all the rage to jog with dumbbells, but I don't see anyone doing that any more. For sure backpacking in the mountains is good for you. I don't think it particularly increases fitness in terms of high-end output, but it feels good. I don't think I'd like doing the Stepmill wearing a weighted vest. Performance decreaser for sure because of not being able to get rid of heat. I make puddles on the steps already.

Walmart. I have a 10lb Reebok vest that I wear for hill repeats and sprint training. It is a little hot but I typically only use it in the off/cold season.

The vest might come in handy for doing weighted pull ups or chin ups.
Target those lats which are part of the core.
