What do you do in the ''off season''
Just wondering what everyone does during the "off season"
What I mean by off season is that it is too cold (or hot) to ride.
Now there are a few places that have good riding weather all year long, this poll does not apply to you
Choices
Ride my bike outdoors anyway (in the cold / hot)
Ride my bike on my trainer/ rollers
Take a weekly spin class
Hit weights at the gym
Other aerobic activity (cross country skiing, indoor swimming, etc) - Describe in the comments
Something else - describe in the comments
I made a mistake and the poll didn't work, oh well

I don't really have an Off Season. If i did, ironically, it would probably be now during the summer. Heat and humidity can get pretty rough. We don't have much in the way of winters, anymore. We may get a few weeks of sub-freezing temps but nothing very drastic. I ride in all weather unless lightning is involved. I don't play with lightning. Now, during the hot season, I do the bulk of my riding from an hour or so before dawn until a couple of hours after sunrise. I'm just too dang old for afternoons in the heat these days. Lots of hydration and electrolytes and embrace the non-evaporative sweat.

When I lived in the middle of the Canadian prairies, winters were cold and snowy. During the cold and snowy times, I did the following ...
-- continued to ride my bicycle outside ... commuting and riding on weekends
-- put another bicycle onto the trainer and rode inside when it was dark after work
-- joined spinning classes
-- joined yoga classes
-- went to the gym
-- cross-country skiing
-- snowshoeing
-- lots of walking
And best of all ... some years I travelled to warmer climates for a week or two.
Now I live in a part of Australia where the winters are cool and rainy. During the cool and rainy winters, I have done the following ...
-- continued to ride my bicycle on weekends
-- put another bicycle onto the trainer and rode inside when it was dark after work
-- lots of walking
We would join a gym, spinning classes, etc. if there were any around here.
And best of all ... we still travel to warmer climates for a while in winter.

I run and play indoor tennis---I live in the central plains and it is not unusual to have 30 degree below wind chills--I can still run in that kind of weather but simply don't have the cojones to ride

Ride anyway. A little treadmill work and extra lifting.

Swim indoors, our town has a great Adult Wellness Center with an indoor pool. I just can't hack the cold, spent quite a bit of cash on layers of clothes and just freeze everywhere but my chest when cycling below 60 degrees - yep I'm a sissy. I just can't stand indoor training or spinning, it's too boring to me.

There is an "off season"?
There are times it is "too cold to ride"?
Thank goodness I don't live in a place like that!
