Howdy from the Austin Texas area and Portland Maine.

Been Pedaling bikes around for 50 plus years, not any kind of serious stuff, just recreational fun stuff. I'm going to be buying a new Giant SLR2 as soon as they become available. Great forum!

I'll share a short story from back in 83. I was one of the few in Austin riding around on a mountain bike in the winter (a cold winter that year). I'm an aggressive rider and and I would love riding down the creek bed off Lamar and on into town. As I was riding around downtown Austin in the early evening on a Sunday I heard this lady scream "he stole my purse" ! I immediately began pursuit as the theif was on foot. I caught up to him, the whole time yelling for the police, the guy is really pissed and pulls out a knife and starts to come at me, on foot. Needless to say being on a bike gave me the advantage so I stayed back out of knife range and followed him all thru downtown Austin( almost a half hour). He made it over to the capital grounds and ran down a long steep flight of stairs and I followed, right down the stairs ( back then it was something). This was all new to me and the guy was damn near dead on his feet due to me chasing him, as we turned a corner onto a side street a Camaro pulled up next to him and he dove thru the open window and the car sped off. He had dropped the purse during the pursuit and the lady got it back, that is all. First time I've ever shared that story with anyone other than my wife of 30 years.
Carry on....

Hey roguewave,

Great Story, did the purse owner give you any kind of reward?
