State's latest offering
State is going retro with their latest model.
Lugged frame and fork, threaded curved blade fork, quill stem, Turbo (real) saddle, shallow rims, retro crank/ring, radially laced front wheel, low flange hubs, and integrated seat post clamp and chain tensioners.
All those details but the top tube isn't horizontal. I don't get it.
$649.00. Yikes.

Also, I know it's only very slightly sloping, but a sloping top tube is the opposite of "retro" in my book.

I really like the look of this bike...except for the saddle.
Methinks State is offering the world the Fuji Feather.

Agree with much of the comments here. That said, I think credit should be given where credit is due, and this bike looks mostly on point. I actually don't think the price point is horrible, especially with that saddle (again, props).
In my opinion, the Masi shown is more fakakta than the State.

Gawd this is hot! Finally a lugged threaded fixed gear that doesn't cost a fortune or you don't have to buy it from Japan with a dent in it.
The only real issue is they need a size between 55 and 59. Get me a 56/57 and frame only and you might get me to brush off the dust from my wallet.

Actually a a lot of schwinn's where made in Taiwann and Japan starting in the 80s I think. Now obviously they all are. Plus these State bikes are sans rust and 1980's tech. No offense to your bike which is lovely.

That said, it's a nice looking bike. But yeah, how do you not a have a level TT on a bike like that? So close.

It was my track racing machine for 30 years and I never used it on the road. It's now mainly a museum piece in my living room.

Can't compare a vintage Paramount to a mass produced modern lugged complete bike for $650. The paramount would be closer to a Bob Jackson in terms of $$$ or quality.

I am pretty sure State is not marketing this bike to people like TT (or me, for that matter). That said, to the casual enthusiast (who isn't on a bike forum all day ) whose discerning (or at least discerning enough) eye is drawn to the classical features - basically, someone who knows a little bit about bikes (but not too much!) - I still think this is a pretty attractive offering, imperfect though it may be.
