Most Common Road Debris?
During my morning ride it occurred to me that cigarette butts/packages and scratch off lottery tickets are the most common debris that I encounter along the road.
What do you see most often or what is the most unusual thing you have encountered?

Glass and gravel. That's what I look for specifically because they matter. The cigarette butts don't. The lottery tickets don't. Wet leaves do. Pavement cracks and potholes do. After that my attention is up the road and on the world around me.

Glass. But one day I found a nice pair of wayfarer sunglasses that someone had lost. (I visualized a girl in a convertible deciding to stand up and yell something at a cyclist, and the slipstream took her glasses away. Karma!)

Non omnino gravis
Glass, for sure. Auto, then clear bottle, then brown bottle. I don't consider gravel/rocks/sand, because it is ubiquitous here. Smooth, uncluttered pavement is the oddity.
As to stuff you don't expect to see, I have to go with lugnuts. I'm still amazed by how many lugnuts I see in the road on a daily basis.

MUP World Champ
The city has one of those large trucks with the spinning brushes and a large vacuum that keeps the streets pretty clean. I spot the occasional mini liquor bottle, cigarette pack, and a few butts.
The MUP along the river is another story though. You have to be alert for the coyote turds if you don't want your bike wearing a sample home.

On two separate occasions although on the same road I have seen boats!
Makes you wonder--although with fiberglass skills they could have been repaired!
We have a couple roads that are used as dumps and yet designated as "scenic"--so unfortunately so the county has to come and pick up coaches, TVs, construction debris--you name it--sad to say the least

I see a bunch bolts and screws, it's made me realize why every flat tire I've ever had in a car has been from a bolt or screw. I also see lot's single work gloves, which I'm assuming fall off landscaping and construction trucks.

Broken chunks of tar, loose gravel, and road-kill. Gotta love those dead skunks......why does it seem like they're always found on the slow uphill sections where you can really get a nose full??

Sand from the winter
Road kill
Beer cans
Cheap liquor bottles
Smashed cheap liquor bottles
Gu packets
Bits of smashed headlights and taillights
