Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Off to SRI LANKA Meilenstein Man

Well it is time for this old coot and his 10 pieces of excess luggage to head off to my most favorite place in the world. I have enough bikes, wheel sets, helmets, shoes, pumps and electronics to open me a shop. Why does one need so much fluff to travel and talk about not traveling lightly..HAH. Everyone have a very merry merry christmas and a happy and healthy 2018 ahead..

Did i forget to pack anything,,? HAH

Merry Christmas to you and your MEILENSTEIN wheels! It's just like you to have 5 identical suitcases. Enjoy your "winter", I'll think of you when I'm shoveling snow and my bike is collecting dust

Yes I use my cheap beater luggage to travel even tho i have about 15 pieces of German Rimowa Luggage setting in my bike room. I do use my RIMOWA Carryons because they do not get beat up like checked luggage..

been there (for work, a few moons ago). the only thing that makes the cycling even remotely possible is you really can't drive faster than 40mph. And would never dare think of biking in the middle of Colombo. egad.

It's a beautiful country, enjoy!

I have been going to Sri Lanka since 1976 when I was a young marine at the american embassy there. Yes I do ride pretty much all over the entire island and only on the early weekend mornings..I love the heat and humidity ..

I suppose you need to suck up some humidity after all that time in the desert drying out.

Safe riding!

I have it offset due to my lupine light switch on top of liupine light that is centered . Does not really bother me as I have always set it up this for for years..

The closest I've been is to Chennai, and I wouldn't think of riding a bike there. I was scared enough just standing on the side of the road waiting for my ride.

As I pack my outrageous amount of luggage into the van and head off to the airport in DETROIT, I am about to witness about a 100 degree swing in temperature from a -11F here in Ohio to 95F in Sri Lanka..! My flight can not arrive soon enough. Everyone have a very very happy , healthy and safe 2018...
