I tried a set of knee warmers for those mornings when it's a little chlly for shorts alone, but not quite cool enough to commit to tights or knickers for the full ride. They were great and provided just the right amount of coverage and support.

Unfortuntely, I also spent an inordinate amount of time keeping them from sliding down. Can anyone recommend a knee warmer that won't leave me tugging them up like a 50s housewife who can't keep her stockings in place?

Thinking about some arm warmers as well. Would welcome any recommendations.

I ended up pulling the bottom of my bibs over top of knee warmers to keep them up.

Are you using them over the short or under the shorts ...I find that when i have the warmers under the short (next to the skin) and the shorts over them , they tend to stay put a lot better.

Very happy with Louis Garneau. They have a thin silicone band on both the inside and outside of the hem. Stays put.

FWIW, tried bibs both over and under the Nashbar knee warmers - still slipped. I think I'm going to quit buying Nashbar for anything other than the occasonal <$20 jersey for playing in the mud.

Funnily enough, the LG's replaced some 13-year old Nashbar knee warmers that finally crapped out. Their house brand stuff used to be much better quality.

I find that knee warmers don't react well to walking around. I make sure to tug them up and under my shorts before getting on the bike and they stay put. Also make sure you have them far enough up your calf so they don't get pulled down. I have a set from Adidas that work well for me.

or put them on first BEFORE you put on your shorts\bibs. That way you eliminate all the tucking.

Wait, people actually try using warmers over their shorts? If the warmers aren't staying put, pull them up higher. There should be a 6-8" overlap between the shorts and the warmers, with the shorts over the warmers. If the shorts or warmers are baggy, this will be problematic as well.

Damn, I just ordered a set of Nashbar leg, arm, and knee warmers. Oh well, the entire purpose I chose Nashbar was because I've never worn warmers before and the entire set was only $35 shipped.

Are all LG warmers quality? I need to build up my winter gear because this is my first winter cycling, but I don't want to spend too much because they might not fit me next season.

You'll probably be fine.. just have enough overlap so your shorts keep them held up. no need to buy other pieces until you've tried what you ordered. you only need one set of arm and leg warmers. buy a set of tights next

why put them on first? you guys can't roll your shorts up a bit and then roll them back down? haha what happens if you decide to put knee warmers on part way into a ride

Then they are never as smooth, or up as high, as they would be if you'd put them on first. Of course you can do it, but it's slightly less tan optimal.

If you put them on first and they still slide down, your shorts are too baggy.

Hate to say it but my Nashbar ones slide down.

I didn't even know leg warmers slid down, since my Izumis never did, but clearly my Nashba rones do.

+1 Just got a set of Louis Garneau Knee Warmers 2 and am very happy, they stay put nicely. Follow the sizing chart on their site though, I normally wear a Med in bibs but I ended up with a SM in these warmers; MEDs felt too loose. Defeet kneekers are great too, but usually wear those in colder weather.

I for one am not a huge fan of Warmers. Some are better than others. They are just a necessary evil for long rides where you expect big weather changes. Otherwise wear pants & full sleeve jerseys.

I know that my long sleeve jersey is warmer in the torso than i want at some temps. same with tights.. they get pretty warm if it's not below 50 for me.

i still think putting knee warmers on before your bibs is strange haha i guess i don't have a problem getting things lined up.
