Your riding enemies-by the numbers

PT is for real. At around 50 my mom put down her Harley sporster and broke her right arm into 7 or 8 pieces. She failed to do the prescribed PT and I now tease her about her T Rex arm. She can't lift the right arm above shoulder height and can't reach more than 2 feet max.
Not saying she would have had like-new results with the prescribed PT, but almost certainly better than where she is now.

But I see you are from the West coast. Would you ride here in Nebr on say Jan 10, when it is 22 below, and there is ice and snow on the roads, and the wind is blowing out of the north at 42 mph???

I have noticed that when riding on trails, kids seem to be a real hazard. They tend to not look where they're going, and the parents don't seem to care.

3. Rain
I don’t ride in temps under 50, so no worries about snow and ice. And since I ride a ROAD bike, cars are no worry either I’m right where I’m supposed to be… so **** traffic.

I have a reputation here as a flat magnet. After much cajoling, I finally took the tubeless plunge a couple months ago. Went out today for only the 3rd or 4th time since converting my tri bike to tubeless. The plan was a 60 mile training ride, preparing for IMAZ in November. Made it 48 miles. I was 8 miles past my 2nd turn-around point when I could tell the front tire didn't feel right. Pulled over and sure enough, saw lots of orangy-white goo bubbling out of the tire right on the side wall. I did have a plug kit but no bueno. Had to make the "damsel in distress" call.

These are all tubeless. 6 were on my commute, 3 on long recreational rides, one tooling around with my grandsons. All but one went flat on the road, meaning the sealant didn't do the trick. The exception was a flat found in the morning. On the road, usually I throw in a tube and deal with things at home. Most, but not all, were on my commute. At least this morning's was in front of Starbucks, so I had coffee, light, and a place to wash my hands afterwards.
Signed,
Flat King

I'm from MN originally and yes, I've ridden a bike in those conditions. Wrestling practice, a shower, and frozen hair by the time I got home (@2 mile ride). Hard to believe that was almost 60 years ago. Now I feel old....

1. Rain. I don't ride in the rain, I see zero reasons to ride in the rain by choice. When I used to commute on bike, if it rained, I took public transit.
2. Any driver, I don't trust anyone behind the wheel regardless if I'm on a bike or driving. I assume all drivers are wacko angry and illogical.

From this list, what are your top 3 worst enemies while riding? Some of these will depend on what type of riding you do so feel free to add your own.
1. Rain
2. Cold temperatures
3. Excessive heat
4. Snow/ice
5. Wind
6. Dogs
7. Hills
8. Darkness
9. Car traffic
10. Poor riding surfaces
For me personally, it would be wind, dogs, and car traffic. Everything else I can tolerate.

2)Cold can demotivating for riding
3) Excessive heat no for meas well
4)Ice after a bad fall due to unsalted roads , I will never ride again on ice or snow
5)Wind is tolerable
6)Dogs it depends of which dog we are talking about and who is the owner
7)Hills some are steep hills, needs training and practice
8)Night riding when public lights are on yes otherwise no
9)I avoid riding when too much traffic
10)For poor riding surfaces there is the hybrid

1) Snow and ice; I have no studded tires so that would be treacherous, though it's extremely rare to get snow here.
2) Rain; I can easily dry off, but it gets my drivetrain and rim brakes full of grit, accelerates wear on drivetrain and rims, and water past seals on cheap hubs (and used to be bottom bracket but I upgraded that).
3) Poor riding surfaces; I don't bike on dirt due to the above, nor rough surfaces, thankfully neither are big issues where I bike.
The other things, I can cope.
