those were the only 2 issues really, id hardly consider it a hassle. i love these wheels and i might try and thread on a freewheel and see how that goes

once its set up and other things dont break which cause me to forcibly mistreat the hub, it gives me no trouble and asks nothing from me, im happy with my purchase

as far as the spoke goes, rooty and rocky singletrack, curb hops, seriously gnar potholes, im surprised i havent broken more, lol.

They are Specialized Fat Boys. 700x45c, 100% slick, no tread pattern. They are kinda sorta skin/tan wall. Available in black wall too.

Thanks! I fell in love with them the moment I laid eyes on them, I had to have them, but they wouldn't fit. So.....I modified the chainstays to accommodate them.



Thanks! There are many adapters to choose from, but I bought this one from PorkCHopBMX. It has a recess for the cartridge to sink into that is way more precise and allows for a super flush fit compared to other models. When I received it and did the first mock up build to check for clearance issues (none BTW) I was really impressed with the tolerances and fit, both into the shell, and the cartridge into the adaptor itself.

In my experience, fat tires roll just as well as skinny ones if you adjust the pressure well enough to avoid excess deformation. I can't run my Kojaks anywhere near the labeled max, way too harsh. And they roll just as easily at -15 psi as they do at max. At high speeds fat tires are way less aero, but at cruise speeds they are fantastic. And starting from a dead stop is cake too.

They aren't light though.

Thanks. The bar is pretty narrow there, just enough room for my hands if I wrapped them like that. I did that because I was tired of holding metal when riding into a headwind. I kinda like how weird it looks. I think I'm going to wrap my othe nerd bike's bars now.

my new toy, just deciding on going duraace or gran compe pro on the hubs. and either panaracers pt's or the vittorias for the gumwall tires. i have vit's on the bk and love em but 70 bucks a tire is a little oomph.

the cambium bar tape is a few shades lighter than the matching saddle but still will compliment the bike i think.

Thanks. That black and red has a really good punch. I dig it. How thick is the rubber backing on the Cambium tape?

My honey tape was a different shade and a bit lighter than my saddle too. I just keep rubbing my dirty hands on the bars to help speed up the matching process.

Shimano is a must on that bike, for sure..
