There's a few on pedalroom, I almost got one, but I got a Flite instead. They're all 4130 steel so they can't be bad, I'm not sure if it's straight gauge or butted though.

It says that are double butted. The Murphy model would make a perfect Porteur bike. Has rack mounts, room for fenders and 32c tires, and internal cable routing. I notice the head tube rises WAY above the top tube too, which would facilitate achieving the more upright riding position.

It looks like the track model uses Paul dropouts, which are kinda nice.

Doesn't look bad at all, for $300.

I was thinking something similar but the frames are lugged. I thought maybe they were the same as the Kilo Team frames but the dropouts are different.

I was looking at those Murphy frames for the SS I was building, but ended up finding a Masi track frame at the co-op here for cheap, and just used that instead.

Hey a few of you had helpful, posts, thanks! going to investigate those, some of these seem to be what I am after. I think I did use incorrect terminology, but overall you guys got it right, barebones frame with a basket on the front for when I need to run errands from my shop.

For the rest of you, you are entitled to your opinion, but you need to realize not everyone will like what you like, we are different after all and enjoy things for different reasons ; for me it's great clean design. I think water bottle mounts are a great eyesore to the clean lines of a nice frame.

Just for conversations sake I work in the furniture/interior design industry and that spills over into what I like, including brandless/minimalistic modern designed bikes with a slight timeless undertone, usually like what I design or curate. "Less is more" as a lot of people in my field are infamous for preaching. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting something simple

Here's the thing: you didn't ask for classy stuff like lugs. My feeling is that you haven't actually spent enough time looking at bikes to have developed any aesthetic sense of them and you think you want something that you will actually not like after you've been looking at bikes a while. The reason you're getting pushback is that your question seems premature and you haven't spent enough time researching for yourself. Spend some time looking at the pic threads and pedalroom and fixed gear gallery and find out what the frames that you do like are.

"minimal, brandless and modern" can still be achieved via 'lugged frame, raked fork even plus vintage-inspired' build, IMO.
good example here*

everyone has different taste and aesthetic POV. wouldn't too much matter what industry one is in.
(and i am in the similar industry w you if not same, too)

*Bertelli hasn't made nor sold their frames and bikes recently, btw. still active on social network, no production seems going on.

How is a basket consistent with a minimalist aesthetic? Replace the basket with a messenger bag.

Thanks for the link. No wonder I put them out of my mind. The thread is a hoot, though.

Definitely not worth the starting price of $1000. #sfmarkup #techiemarkup

They're expensive (for what they are) because they are assembled by the nimble little fingers of SF Mission hipsters, who have to buy coffee 100 times a day, at $4 per cup. Then you have the over-paid/over-privileged techies who will pay whatever price it takes to be a cool SF Mission hipster. Thus the over-inflated price tag.
