Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not really. Those aren't NASCAR cars. You were correct

24 Hours is a pretty long time to drive. I've done that, and also ridden my bike that long. So, I agree with your correct observation there too.

You're also correct that Daytona has an oval race track. Here's the pedant in me. The oval portion of Daytona is actually a tri-oval.

When I hauled the race car, it was normal for me to leave for west coast races with 24 hours to get there. This was back in the 55 mph days. #poorplanning #nologbook

It took me 25 hours to do a 600K on the bike, so I figure 362 miles, give or take. #flattires #goatheads

Snow started. Saturn and Fit safely backed into garage. Snow blower is between them but carb issue makes its value dubious.

I’m liking my ruby slippers. They’re the first pair with turn buckle ratcheting system, which doesn’t seem all that different but, ease of adjustment on the bike seems better than the hook and loop ones.

Good thing I didn’t put the look memory eyelet covers right away, about a mm forward and perhaps an angle/rotational adjustment of 1-2 degrees (on the left one) might be needed.

Currently experiencing some graupel, which should not be confused with Griepel.

Next time I retape the bar, though, I gotta replace the housings.
Looks way better, but I'd put some kind of clear protective tape on the bottom of the head tube. "Ask me how I know".

Also, Datlas, about your snow blower. One other thing to check. If you've got a vented gas cap, make sure it's clear. You can unscrew it just a bit to see if it makes a difference.

The hilltop that the AZ Initial Point has a view of PHX Raceway, and I was like what, where's the road course??? I've spent hours driving virtual Miatas on that course!

When I got back home I found out the road course was decommissioned in 2011, and the infield has lots more garages than it used to. RIP.

I will check that. One huge frustration is that it ran great a couple months ago (checked it in advance of winter, was about 50F out) and it worked great. So whatever is causing it to stop seems to be a problem in the cold. If it misbehaves again after this storm I will have to get a small engine repair shop to look at it.

I usually do at least 10 rides with several small adjustments of bar angle and brifter placement in between rides 'til I'm happy enough to tape.

Shift cable housings are going to wear the paint off the headtube like that, unless you've got some helicopter tape on there.

Of course paint is just unnecessary weight, so...
