Am I Missing Something, or...?

...is this a total RIP-OFF? Is this person totally high, or am I not seeing something? I mean, granted the parts are "high end-ish" and they've apparently only been used a handful of times, but, really?, they're 6 YEARS OLD. It's called depreciation.

Why do people do this? Do they seriously think someone's going to pay that? On the other hand, I suppose, as the old adage goes: There's a sucker born every minute.

Dude told his wife that it is worth $3000 so she would lay off him for spending $2000 on the bike. Now the baby is coming and she wants him to sell it and get something cheaper but the dude doesn't really want to sell it. It's a whole drama.

I see.

However, in such a scenario, I can honestly say for me, it will be a cold day in hell when my wife starts telling me how to spend my own (hard earned) cash. Or to sell my bikes. Just sayin...

In addition, when it comes to babies vs. bikes, I'll wear twelve condoms...at the same time...just to ensure I can buy more bikes.

The dude's wife is actually the one with the money since she's a project manager and he's only a software documentation specialist. He's kind of itching to be the stay-at-home dad, because he thinks he'll have time to write his novel. Unfortunately for him the kid has severe autism and he'll end up being the care-taker for the rest of his life and never get to the novel. Kind of sad.

In that case, maybe I should just buy the bike and consider it charity. Then again...maybe NOT.

Don't buy the bike. The dude needs it. Those long rides are the only time he gets to himself without feeling guilty about leaving his son behind, because he's at least keeping himself in shape.

Maybe a nice bike ride on a $2,500 used Cinelli would cheer you up.

Yeah, I like the story, as well. You should pitch that to Lifetime. I'd totally watch that.

Nah, halmark channel. Fits there insanely predictable, extremely uncomfortably awkward programming.

We really need to give stories to craigslist bikes more often. This is really nice (minus the sad part).

Someone do one for that bent Cannondale!

You guys that post stuff from SF are out of touch with reality.

The price of living is so crazy town there that I actually had an online "friend" (really a kid I played games with) from SF tell me he'd just give me 5k cash to buy him a play off ticket.

If I was a real ****** I could have robbed him blind. I didn't.

I live in SF, and have been for 16 years, and, yes, it is expensive. But not as expensive as some people think it is. There's no economy in the world, at least not right now, in which a 5 year old Cinelli frame and some mediocre used parts are going to garner $2,300. There may be people stupid enough to pay it, but then that's a whole different can of woms. I mean, it's not like Cinelli's are in limited supply (while the demand is through the roof), like the housing market, in SF.
