Sold: Tommasini Sintesi Campy 9sp 58x57.5

Sold:
This Tommasini Sintesi is in excellent condition.

Columbus Neuron tubeset.
This is a real Italian racing rocket - quick handling with efficient power transfer.
Color is a pearlescent white.

Size is 58 ctc and top tube is about 57.5.
No dings, dents, or rust.
The chrome is in as-new condition.
There are some paint chips which have been touched up.
The frame has been frame-savered.

I got the bike from a good friend probably about 5 years ago. This was one of a multiple number of bikes he had and he lives in Arizona and I wanted it and he knew it so I got it, just the frame/fork/hs. It just didn’t fit him very well at all, so he didn’t ride it much. I’ve always kept my bike in my heated shop in my house. For me, it’s one of about a dozen road bikes I’ve got and I’ve just got to downsize. So that’s why I’m selling.

Crankset: Centaur Ultra-Torque 53-39
Rear D: Daytona 9-sp
Front D: Chorus 10-sp
Shifters: Daytona 9-sp
Brakes: Centaur dual pivot
Seatpost: Campy aero (not sure of model)
Hubs: Campy Centaur 32 hole
Avocet O2 saddle
No pedals. I’m keeping the pedals. You probably have your own, anyway.
Conti 4000 tires, 700x25.
DT double butted stainless spokes,
Nitto Noodle 46cm bars.

Chain: Campy 9-sp. with plenty of wear left according to my Park chain wear tool.
Cassette: Campy 9-sp. 13-26
Skewers: Campy, probably original to the hubs
Downtube shifter guides/stops: Campy alloy
Seatpost binder bolt: Yes, it’s Campy!

$1,000 net to me. I will pack very well and can ship Bike Flights or however you want.

Made in Italy, of course!
Thanks for looking.
Drew

This shouldn't last very long at all. Very nice and a great price. Way too big for me unfortunately. If anyone has a 52 or 53 Tommasini for sale, please PM me..

I've read this tubing is for lighter folks and that the oversized Tecno is better for larger people. Do you think that 195 lbs would be too much for it?

Is that 9 speed Campy Record?

Good question. I think in the sense that a larger diameter tubeset would be better suited to a larger (and stronger) rider, then I’ve got to think that that’s where the thought that Techno is best for larger riders and Neuron for lighter (and less strong) riders. But there’s no weight limit on the tubeset that I can find. Never heard of one. And heck, think of all those riders (Big and small, strong and not as strong) through the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s who rode on standard diameter tubing and they did just fine.

I’m currently 170 lbs and was about 190-195 lbs. four years ago. Never had any stiffness or other issues with the frame. It’s plenty stiff, one of the stiffer steel frames I’ve had. 195 lb. rider should do just fine on this.

It’s a mix of Campy parts, not one model groupset. But it works really well together.

Other parts: Avocet O2 saddle, Ritchey Peloton pedals (Look delta compatible), Conti 4000 tires, DT double butted stainless spokes, Nitto Noodle 46cm bars.

Someone asked me the history of the bike. Here it is, all that I know.

I’ll add this comment to the original post.

Ask away, any more questions. You can be assured that this is in excellent condition.

I have in my notes that it’s from 2000. Not sure how I figured that out at one time, but I did.

I’m planning to take this to the Seattle Bike Swap if I haven’t sold it by then. So all you SBS attendees, come see it in person. I’ll have a couple of other nice bikes for sale, too.
