Addiction LXXVII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Exactly. He said, and do not quote either of us, that if we were not with anyone who was sick and were feeling well ourselves, that we were at very low risk and that the real world incubation period was 7 days. The activity is also low risk to society compared to, say, food shopping. I may not see another human indoors.

Virginia is going into lock down mode at 1159 pm tonight. Only essential businesses will remain open. The liquor store made the list. I find this interesting. Is it open for true alcoholics that may go in withdrawal if alcohol gets harder to come by and could add people going to the hospital, or is open because it is state run and will help generate revenue.
Thoughts?

Denver is going to lock down at 5 pm today, and yesterday the Mayor stated recreational pot and liquor stores were not on the essential list, just medicinal pot. The lines immediately formed outside of both, and the Mayor walked that one right back within 3 hours.

Fortunately I’ve got nowhere to go and it’s supposed to reach 51 today, so I won’t need to shovel at all.

People are anxious - let those that want to (reasonably) self-medicate do so. Otherwise, even drinkers that don't have a bad relationship with alcohol will riot if they can't have a tipple while locked in, waiting to see if the world will crumble.

Woof. Is liquor delivery a thing in CO and will that still be available? MN has been very restrictive w/r/t alcohol sales and I don't have a handle on what the norm is.

Good question on the delivery. I don't keep up on that, but I know Governor Polis allowed curbside delivery for both pot and liquor.

They're essential because alcohol is 1) a diversion from boredom, 2) induces cheer and good spirits, 3) known to have a calming effect on most people despite it's technical classification as a stimulus, and 4) even puts many to sleep. Beer, as an example, makes BillyD sleepy almost without fail.

Finally 5) there will almost certainly be civil unrest if liquor stores closed.

I sometimes get bored with the same routes and I honestly don't know my area (in terms of riding) as well as I could, so I'll have to give this a try both in MN and in VA, whenever we get back down there.
That's pretty neat. I plugged in my home address and it spat out a 30 mile route that I think I have actually done

I looked at a few other suggestions and it routes me on to roads that I don't personally feel comfortable riding on, but I have seen other cyclists on before.

So, as always with algorithms, YMMV.

I got my stubborn brake hood on yesterday with a little help from some hand sanitizer.

Today, if I have the energy, I will wrap the bars and call the project a wrap.
