Hi,

I'm pretty new to cycling. I took it up after realising I could cycle to work faster than driving or using public transport. I ended up with a Specialized Crosstrail. I love the bike!
Anyway, I've now got some worn down pads and for the life of me I cannot get any information on the pad that fits the caliper.

The calliper is Promax Solve.

There is no info on the Specialized site for the pad, and I tried the Promax site too.
Really struggling, I thought I'd put it in a shop, they all have a two week turnaround, due to Covid-19.

I am desperate to get out on the bike and would really appreciate any help.

Do you know the model number of the brakes? Do any of these look like your brake pads?

No, from what I can see of the calliper it just says Promax Solve on the casing, no model numbers at all.
I really need to strip the calliper and see if there is anything on the pads themselves. Not had a chance to do that yet.
I'll see if I can get that done over the weekend.

If you take the pads out, if you haven't done this before or are unsure how to do so, youtube is great for guidance. Just don't squeeze the brakes levers while wheel is off bike and especially when pads are out.

BUT, once the pads are out, do they look like these:

These seem to be a standard with many disc brakes on hybrids, or to me it seems.

Yeah I've been on that page before.
I am also a new to bike maintenance, so far I have not had a chance to take the pads out.
I'll get that done as soon as possible.
I'll also take pictures and see if there are any numbers on the calliper or the pads themselves that can help.
I have actually built up a tool kit and have no excuses, other than lack of experience!

I'll post pics and and any other details that I think might help soon as I have the pads out.

Finally got round to getting the pads out. From what I can tell from the dimensions of the pads by comparing them with pics my pal sent from his bike brake pads, they are

Shimano B01S Disc Brake Pads

I'll be heading off to a bike shop just shortly and will be taking the pads I removed with me, just to make doubly sure!

That's probably the most common brake pad size (used by many Shimano and Tektro brakes), and good to know that it's also used by Promax on some of theirs. It's too bad this information is so difficult to come by sometimes! And Promax definitely make brakes that use a different size pad, too. It's hard to predict what is what.

Yeah, exactly what was driving me nuts.
I put the bike in for a checkup in the shop I bough it from.
They put a note on the service report saying, pretty much, back breaks worn but life in them yet.
After a while I started thinking about when will I know when to change them?
Just a little nag every time I geared up for a pedal.
And the lack of information on what pad for what calliper just done my nut in.
If it was a car you could get a Haynes manual!!
I'll post pics just so that everyone knows what they look like. When I am allowed!! Still a newbie.

Fitted the new ones, and done a few test laps round the block, brakes work, no rubbing sounds, and the wheels are still on....not done a high speed bank in a corner yet though!!

I really need to get my maintenance skills and knowledge level up....no doubt I'll post some silly questions in future!!
