How Do You Track Your Training?

While I use Golden Cheetah (GC) to track my wattage and such post-ride, I'm looking for some sort of calendar program to input training plans, track diet, anecdotal notes, etc.

Training Peaks has an online calendar, but it's pricey. So, what does everyone use?

trainingpeaks.com has both a free and paid version of the online training log. both are very good.

i use the paid version plus WKO+ on my desktop at home.

another excellent free training log can be found a buckeyeoutdoors.com.

Strava is a nice tool if you're using GPS. I use it in conjunction with GoldenCheetah.

TrainingPeaks is pricey, but they also have a free version, which is still really good! I like it because I can put in daily metrics like sleep, resting HR, etc.

I have the free version of trainingpeaks. However, I can't use it to write out a training plan for the season. Maybe I can use something else for this sole purpose and use trainingpeaks for everything else. I use Golden Cheetah for my power meter metrics, so I don't need the paid version for this feature.

For the last 4 years I've used a pretty basic excel spreadsheet. Before that I tracked my training with a pencil and notebook.

My coach gives me workouts in a spreadsheet through Google Docs. I also record my workouts there and ask questions/have conversations about stuff. Now that I have the PT I'm using Golden Cheetah, and may start giving her the data in TrainingPeaks.

I also keep about 10 excel spreadsheets tracking various things related to exercise and well-being, but that's just because I love spreadsheets.

ha, that's exactly what i do. Golden cheetah and bunch of diaries. I also have a TSS (training stress score) planner into which i plan workouts as i have a good idea of the stress of each of my workouts. I plan it so that i can ramp up chronic stress in a sustainable fashion while keeping an eye on stress balance. Can you tell i'm a math nerd?

I use the trainingpeaks.com paid version. It's worth it just as a calorie counter, in my opinion.

TP, paid version. Compared to whatever crap else bike racing costs, it's a drop in the bucket, and well worth it.

I've been using WKO+ for about 4 years in addition to an Excel spreadsheet to lay out my plan.

I use TP Professional edition for myself and those I coach. Well worth it I think.

I use TP paid version as well

as Matt stated above the cost is nominal compared to most other cycling expenses

I track my rides using GoldenCheetah.

I used to use SportTracks before they went with the pay model. Now I just use PerfPRO. Has everything I'll need. GL

I started using TP but when I couldn't enter planned workouts with the free version I ditched it. If/when I get to counting calories I'll probably pony up the cash and use the full version.

In the meantime I'm just using Garmin Connect. Obviously much more basic but it's all I really need at this point.

SportTracks is my recommendation. You can do everything you're looking for there. A lot of people miss out because they overlook the large number of plug-ins available. Definitely check it out.

Started using GC 2.0 and so far it's impressive. Great job. If it had a calendar it's all I'd need. I also use Google Calendar to sync up with my support crew's schedule (wife and daughter).

I agree that ST has a large and useful assortment of plugins.

Just wanted to say that having any choice at all is amazing. To have such advanced programs and supported by a community is very cool. GL
