2.5 hours on the rollers. 3*20s.
I know I'm opening a can of worms with this one, but what's the consensus on active rest weeks? obviously it's one thing for people like tkp who are putting in massive volume, but what about people with more normal training loads? After this week I will have put in a pretty solid 4 weeks or so with some good volume when the weather allowed and a lot of threshold work. i'm considering taking a mini rest week next week (probably just going easy M-F then getting back at it saturday and sunday). historically i've never been good about regular rest weeks. if anyone cares, i post just about every ride on my strava. https://www.strava.com/athletes/6798

~4hrs z1/2. I am feeling not correct at the moment, my gut says it's because I underestimated how much sprint work thrashes your legs when you do it right, and shrugging off proper recovery carried over into FTP day and I'm still paying for it now. Tomorrow is 4 more, and I'll try to rest hard Monday spin easy on Tuesday to see if I can get my legs back under me. If not I'll probably talk to my coach about taking an early rest period because I'm an idiot :-|

I've been using heat (not ice so much anymore), stretching, and some massage (with a ball). I might do an active release technique. Next massage is Thurs, but we're hoping to have me back on the bike by Wed.

Does your coach or team have a deal with a physical therapist? They might be able to recommend re the stretch or no stretch thing?

I used to do the 'every 4 weeks take a easy week' protocol however this time of year, I can only ride the trainer during the week (1-2hrs/day) and do some longer rides on the weekend. In order to build/maintain CTL (building CTL on the trainer is horrible), I started to just take an off/easy day only when I felt like I needed it (eg: after a long/hard ride). THen again, i've never had a coach and not sure entirely sure what I'm doing half the time.

My coach suggested someone who specializes in active release. We'll see where I'm at by Thursday. If it's not significantly along, I'll go see his guy.

2:45 in the rain with 35' and 25' zone 4 (185 TSS). Still 40 watts weaker than I once was, but around 20 watts better than a couple months ago (finally hit 300 for 20 minutes). And finally getting over this lingering cough. We'll see if I can manage a road race (only 50 miles) and a crit plus 2 hours extra tomorrow and bring that cold right back haha!

2.5 hours Z2. On the trainer, natch. Wasn't so bad. I watched Kill Bill Vol. 1. CTL is building slooooowly. Hopefully after this upcoming rest week we'll start adding some tempo work. It's been all Z2 with high-cadence work and spin-ups so far.

12 hours, 700 TSS on the week. CTL of 90, TSB around -10. FTP is right around where it should be. Weight is heading towards historical lows. Pretty well set for vacation in ten days, then time to sharpen up for the season.

Thanks for the company, nice to see you out there.
Sort of an experiment to see if 20 minute intervals are doable on the SS. Yes they are, but it was tough. Pushing at 125 rpm on the downhills is harder than 40 rpm on the uphills. Felt like great training though, looking forward to doing a lot more of these on the iron pig single speed as the weather gets worse.

i thought about taking my fg out on the team ride today but figured it would be frowned upon. should have brought my cross bike with file treads though, as that's what half the other people were on. if only my cross bike wasn't still a mechanical death trap.

Just got back from training camp, had a great time. Doing huge rides with lots of climbing and fit elite riders is... hard.

Rode z2 with some high cadence sprints today. It snowed on me for 2 hours and I was frozen. I can get a lot higher power numbers spinning an easy gear at a higher cadence, note to self. Bike cleaning intervals tomorrow.
