I got outdoors yesterday on the TT bike. That bike is about 1200x more fun to ride not on a trainer. You go so fast...

implemented a couple of fit tweaks recommended by @racerex when he was last over. I don't know if it's faster, but it was a little bit more comfortable.

Did 1:32 on somewhat dry roads. 254 AP, average speed came out nearly 23mph despite hitting every stoplight. That's what I mean when I say it's fun to ride.

I've ridden a fixed gear on many group rides, but most were either a small group (~ 8 riders),or a ride where fixed gears are common in the winter (~30% of the riders on fg). Always with brakes.

I don't consider a fixed gear on a group ride to be dangerous as long as there aren't corners that are taken at speed (making a hard pedal strike a concern). And I'd make sure to be careful and politely drift the back of the group before any high speed descents where you are likely to go into high speed blender mode and be dropped.

It was kind of a pain to measure back then, but now it looks like there are tons of free apps and I may need to revisit.

Haha, I feel the same way. I've got 1100+ miles on my TT bike in 6 months and lucky me only 2 trainer workouts so far. I love to ride the thing. Sent a note to coach after one workout: "People who do not love their TT bike are just big fat complainers, there is something wrong with them".

The trainer and I have become fast friends. I last rode outside 16 days ago. I don't know if this sounds strange: I now feel accustomed to, and in the zone on, the trainer. At present, I don't feel any strong desire to ride outside. I've been able to focus well on my spinning, and, some occasional strength training.

Good 4x10min power. First workout after coming back from altitude is always a toss up.

2x20 on the single speed. Wow, it's tough to sustain 120 rpm cadence for a long time with heavy winter boots on. I am wiped out.

Y'all are lucky being able to race so soon. The training plan we are on (Cyclists' Training Bible) has us on aerobic fitness working back from first "peak" in late May/early June.

post six more times!

also, methinks that you should shift/offset a traditional periodization schedule to accommodate your race calendar, not the arbitrary season as portrayed in the literature.

Hah I'll get there. Oh I started with our scheduled "A" races in May/June, worked backwards and here we are in Base mode. I'm just jealous that you guys get to have all the fun now while we're on trainers with snowy roads.
