Another Goodwill Find... A Bianchi Hybrid
Way too small for me so she will be a parts bike for my GT, I need a rear wheel, and the Suntour thumb shifters are wearing out...

I am always surprised by old bikes that seemingly have never been used. 30 bucks is a fair deal. Suntour Xpress shifters bring back many fun memories but I am not sure if you are aware that they use a non standard cable. Hopefully those are in good shape to reuse. Early 90s "universal" shifter cables had two ends.

Sweet find. I've been looking for something similar as an errand bike. My current errand bike is fine but massively heavy. And I've outgrown the laid back comfort geometry -- not quite foot-forward but close.
Back to prowling craigslist for a Univega Rover or something similar.

Nice! I love those brakes. Nice low-profile cantilevers that take threaded post brake blocks. Very cool.

Freewheel hub from the look of it.. Pac rim made.. imported by Bianchi USA so no Italian parts to not fit..

Its been a while since I seen any bikes at Goodwill. Mostly find them at my local thrift store. Found this one a goodwill for 29.99 also. UniVega Via Carisma .. think I did pretty good. Seems to have higher quality components.. Shima XTS derailleur .. Shimano brakes.. might be too good for a winter commuter.

The STX line was in the 1990s where the base level Deore is today. It was above Alivio and below Deore and XT. Sort of a mid-line MTB group. I really like the derailers; I have three of them on various bikes of that vintage. My '97 Trek 750 came with a full STX group (front and rear derailers and crankset). As components age, things like springs and pivots eventually go soft, so they eventually need replacing, but they're durable parts.
My first "big boy" bike, an early '90s Motiv Stonegrinder, has an STX rear derailer. I still have that bike and that derailer is still original.

Kinda. Straight Deore didn't exist then, the lineup in the mid 90s top to down went: XTR, XT, LX, STX RC, STX. So 5th in the lineup. Works great but are very undesirable now due to non hex head bolts and wierd BCDs. Just about every mid level bike of that era had STX parts, many of which are in pristine condition today and make perfect rainy day gear.
