If I can feel that the tread is perceptibly concave when I let the air out, it's time to replace.

my riding is mostly road biking; recently i got my old mountain bikes out of storage and the tires were not to stout. the side walls had deteriorated being outside under a tarp, so went into rehab mode. walmart has some new inner tubes for $5.00 and i noted a new brand of tires. if mem serves it may have been 'black burn'? affordable and easy to get and maybe better than the old Bell tires?

anyone use this brand? do you like them?

Duo Blackburn used to be a respected manufacturer of accessories like high-quality pannier racks and indoor trainers. I think the people originally behind the brand are no longer around and the name has been sold and resold so that now their name is showing up on Walmart products. Similar to how 'Bell' used to be expensive helmets but now are $9 tires and $15 plastic floor pumps, and how you can buy a Schwinn bike where the creaking sound is just moaning from the grave of Ignaz Schwinn.
IT is likely the tire is perfectly fine for casual use, but I have never seen anything that could be described as better than that from the Walmart bike dept. The Blackburn tires are probably made on the same production line as the Bell tires.

Here in Southern Arizona I rarely replace tires due to them wearing out. They dry out and split long before they wear out.
Any recommendations on a rubber conditioner to combat the desert dryness? I used Armor All for a short while till I found out it contains a solvent which would probably accelerate the problem.
