So, if I buy a bike that comes with "tubeless ready" tires, and it actually has tubes inside of them...............

1) How do I convert it to tubeless ?

2) And......If I do convert it to tubeless, and get a flat in the trail, can I just slap in a spare tube and convert it back to a tube tire on the spot ?

Is it a UST or Stan's rim? You can convert others using the "Ghetto" tubeless method but it's easier with a UST or Stan's rim. On notubes.com there are great instruction for converting wheels to tubeless.

You can just slap a tube in there- great backup (you will have to remove the rimstrip (which has a valve core))

Most "tubeless ready" bikes that I have seen come with regular rims, but with strips pre-installed. I've seen this with both DT Swiss and Bontrager rims on bikes in shops. I've seen them with full UST tires as well as things like the S-Works 2Bliss, which are made to run with sealant.

In most cases, you will need to buy valve stems and sealant. Remove the tubes, install the valve stems, add your preferred sealant and pump them up.
