Maybrook Trail
Anyone know the status of the Maybrook trail from Hopewell Junction to Brewster? Trying to plan a ride. Thanks.

Scheduled to open sometime in 2021. The site indicates they will issue fines for trespassing, but I suspect you'd have to be lucky to see an MTA cop, they are usually asleep in a train station parking lot somewhere.

"Maybrook trailway is ready to ride. It is not officially open, there are signs and orange cones and such at crossings telling that the path is not yet open but they are generally ignored. There's about a 1 mile section in Brewster that is not complete but its an easy go around. About 23 miles. Flat and fast. Have ridden it a couple weeks in a row now and the progress has been tremendous in the last couple months. This is a great connector, now you can go from NYC to New Paltz and beyond on a paved path with very little time on the road. Enjoy"

Thanks for keeping this topic alive and for the links.
One obvious irony missed in the debate and decision about the project name change https://maybrooktrailway.org/resources/ is that while this trail was never intended to continue along the right-of-way to Beacon, it'll never connect to Maybrook, either.
I'm looking forward to riding it whatever it's named.

the entire stretch from pumphouse rd* in brewster to hopewell junction is done and absolutely beautiful.
there are signs indicating you are not yet allowed to go on it, but no real barriers.
*they're still paving a little part just south of that, though most of that stretch to peaceable hill rd (which right now seems to be the southern start point) is also done.

According the governor's press release, the Maybrook and (all other new pieces of the Empire State Trail) opens today

That said, not sure what the situation on the ground actually is - they had been threatening to ticket people who used it before formal opening.

Maybrook is open north from Pumphouse Rd and Lake Tonetta in Brewster. The "stay off" signage and barriers at that access point, and at Southeast Town Park, are gone and the trail is actively being used already. There's a new parking area just above the town park parking lot specifically for the trail too. Nice. It appears very possible that there may be even more parking in the works from the construction still in progress.
South of Pumphouse to the north side of Brewster village is now paved too, which wasn't the case a few months ago. That section has "use prohibited" signs still at Pumphouse but oddly no other access point that we saw. Imagine it won't be long till that's officially open as well.
We walked a short part of it today while in the area. Looking forward to cycling it!
