1988 Schwinn World Sport Value
Hi guys, bike noob here.
I found a what I think is a 1988 Schwinn World Sport on Craigslist the other day (based on the color scheme). It's a 27" 12 speed.
What do you think it's worth?

By 1988, the World Sport was pretty respectable with the three main frame tubes (top tube, seat tube, and down tube) double-butted 4130 chromoly. The MSRP in 1988 was $239.95. Catalog weight for a 23" frame was a heavyish 27 pounds.
In decent shape (straight, no dents, no rust, good paint, no stuck seatpost or stem), FMV in the S.F. bay area would be in the $100 - $150 range.

Still learning
Mismatched tires, rusty freewheel cogs, aged dirt/grease on hubs, bike needs a full overhaul to ride like new. As presented $50-$75.

Depends on condition. As long as the wheels spin true, paint is good, & drivetrain functions properly, a late 80's Schwinn like that should be worth at least $100. Over $150 if it has new tires, chain, brake pads, cables & other goodies.

Long time no post, life Y'know.
But I recently picked up one of these beaut's.
Blue and silver frame in near mint condition.
I'll post back about it soon. But has araya rims and its 18 speed (I think) and mostly all straight and true.
Cool.
Srinath.

I think that's a bit too much $, but not by much. On the other hand if you were looking specifically for a World Sport and it's your size t then the extra $20-$30 worth paying. Just for the hassle of having to find another. If you have the time, wait for the right deal.
